Wildwood Flower

Description
Although I have enjoyed recording with Garageband and it's many effects and options, my favorite kind of music will always be playing live with other human beings. I used to gig with my friend Greg as a duo called High and Lonesome. Then Greg got remarried and well . . . you know how that sometimes goes. We do still get together once a week just to drink a little wine or beer and play some of our old tunes and usually have a lot of fun. Greg has resisted any of these jam sessions being recorded but I finally convinced him and this is a totally live song with all the warts exposed. We are sitting three feet from my Mac and recording through the built-in mic. Wildwood Flower is a very famous traditional folk song and does have lyrics but we just do it as an instrumental. We start off fairly slow and then challenge each other to see how fast we can play it. It's not great music but it sure is a lot of fun!!

Classic
Classic folk tune, and classic bronco. No high powered
executives messed with this one, I can tell. Mandolinquent
could only come in on the backside and offer his
compliments and flowery praise.

Good stuff, Tom and Greg.

Ah, the petunias then aren't wildflowers. I confess to not looking at the lyrics
to see which flowers are mentioned. It was just a last minute rush to find a
flower picture which was royalty free that I could download for free. I am so
glad you enjoyed the music. It had so many mistakes in it that I wasn't sure
that it would be well received. I just hoped that people would pick up on the
sheer joy that I have playing that song and that it would be infectious.

It's a Folkways...
...field recording!...

Nice folk feel here...like those folk recordings I used to check
out at the library...no pops and crackle on this...

Sounds like you guys were having a great time. Great feel.
That ol' Mac mic authenticity in action...

I love to play guitar. I have been writing songs for many years and have a large catalog by this time. Songwriting is easy. Writing great songs is hard! Born in Louisiana and live in Texas. I grew up on Chuck, Jerry Lee, Elvis, Ricky, Little Richard ... [see more]
