Lyrics
We don't know where we're going
And we don't know where we are
It's Catastrophic City
And the Moon is made of tar

We Don't know when were going
And we don't know where we are
It's Catastrophic City
But You can't get there by car

Who are you guys?
Mr.Blair and Mr. Bush
Total world destruction
Why, what's the rush?

They call it self-harm
They call it a sin
But I've got them fooled
It's not me, it's my twin

Chocalate placebo?
No, it's the real thing
Elvis died on the toilet
Now hail to the brand new king

You think you've got problems
Well listen to this
Aliens stole my buttocks
I've no ass left to kiss

Total eclipse?
It's all on the tele
We lost our fertility
So are we still men?

Bow down to you? , and who else?
Britney Spears
And it's the end of the world
I have no more fears

It's the end of the world
I have no more fears
It's the end of the world
It's the end of the world
And I have no more fears
My cab has arrived
In Catastrophic City

Catastrophic City
Catastrophic City
My cab has arrived in Catastrophic City

Wow, my first collaboration…
… and it's sounding mighty fine! :-)
Good work there, dwwave. This really is in keeping
with the style I was thinking of when I came up with
the lyrics. Those lyrics just came to me while I was in
that strange dark place following the bombs in
London the other week. Like a lot of Brits the events
hit me hard but left me filled with a strange mixture
of relief (that no-one I knew had been hurt or killed),
powerlessness, bitterness, and closeness (this bad
incident has actually brought a lot of people closer
together, the opposite of the terrorists' desired
effect, I guess). The lyrics came out as a result of all
those mixed feelings. I'd like to thank dwwave for
doing such a great job setting my lyrics to music.
This collaboration has been a great catharsis and I
look forward to doing many more. Sorted.

Wow, my first collaboration…
Eppy/

I am thrilled at our first collaboration, I enjoyed this piece , did not seem
like work at all, I really liked the lyrics , very heavy, very time oriented
these are very troublesome times we are living in, wondering even
if the person next to you may just blow the place up. As a American
I grieve with you over the loss of life, limb and solace. No one
here has forgotten 9/11 . I only hope that somehow peace returns
and that the protracted War will end. To Many lives have been Lost.
And it has made to many Catastrophic Cities....

Don't know
Thanks for the very nice comments

It kind of went together very quickly on a Sunday morning

this is the second version, musch different from the first

I had the beat going in my head, added bass then listened

and felt why add any more sounds, just try to sing Eppy's

wonderful lyrics. I have done ?2 spoken word pieces

this was actually my first singing attempt and vocal was recorded on the first

take. Only place to go is up singing (ha)

Thanks again

nice collaboration
Thanks for listening and posting

After the drum loop (with some tweaking) and bass on midi keyboard

It sounded (for a change) ready to add vocals and not go farther

soundwise

Glad you liked it

I really look forward to working more with Epileptic Gibbon

we seem to share some very similiar interest's musically

and to do it across the Atlantic worked remarkably well!

Thanks again!

Nice loop work...
... great lyrics too. I confess I would like to hear them
sung though. Maybe even speak-sung through the
telephone effect, as well as recited, so you get a variety of
styles. G'wan EG.. G'wan.

Nice loop work...
Eppileptic Gibbson did a fab job on the lyrics, I (dwwave0 only made a few on the fly changes, The loop was a very basic drum loop that I tweaked with effects/modulation, I think it got sort of a "jungle sound" the bass(midi)
I just jammed along with the drum then said wing it and sing it

it is my first recorded singing (attempt) I have posted a few spoken words
but no one else was home so I got out a mic and chord and sang
it was my first use os a newShure SM58 I had recently boughten.

I like loops, in my experience with GB1 and 2 it was how I learned
and am still learning both the software and song crafting

I look at loops at kind of a jigsaw puzzle some fit here , some there and some

you put away till later

I look forward to collaborating again with Eppy!

Nice job
Good work, David and EG! It seems the weirdness comes
and goes in cycles and goes back and forth over the
world. I just pretend it could never happen to me and go
about my business. Of course, I'm at the age where you
see there is only one final destination no matter what.
It's like pgreenstone and I were saying that you really can't
think about it too much or you will just go insane and
start screaming or maybe find a government building and
throw rocks thru the window.

An interesting idea
But I kept waiting for it to go somewhere, for some new instruments to arrive, or a new section to be introduced.
The vocal is a no-go for me. It sounds a lot like the rapping on the "Superbowl Shuffle" by the Chicago Bears from 1984.
dwwave said 1574 days ago (July 19th, 2005)
An interesting idea
Thanks for taking the time to post (and listen)

I will have to try and find the Superbowl Shuffle you mentioned I would have been

24 then I imagine

the vocals wre my first recorded singing and my first singing attempt(honestly!)

(I am a mumbler, lipmover in church) Only place to go with the vocals/singing isup
I guess, I am not sure I even took a breath and the song is about 1 minute 58 seconds!)

and then, as promised, i wandered over here
not for the first time I might add! i like your lyrics ian - i like this nice man's growly voice - we lurve growly voices! i like the twangy noise at the end and i could live with the squishy sound all the way through - flufffy enough for me? you know the answer to that one! good for you mate - keep at it! thank you too mr dwwave (your profile page is coming up blank on my pc!) - one love x

and then, as promised, i wandered over here
Thanks for listening and posting, Ian's lyrics wre fantastic, the first piece we put
together was much much different. This second version(with the samme words
except for a few changed on the fly) I put together quickly lat Sunday morning
the drum beat (loop) matched a temp I felt the song had (we are working
across the Atlantic) and tweaked it with the track info editor and then added
some midi additions with bass, then rather than going for the rest of the
instruments, keys/guitars/more percussion etc, I stopped and felt it was
capable of being sung too, I had bought a Shure SM58 recently and this
was its first work and the vocals were first take(added about 30% rcompression
and reverb to bring the sound of the vocals up after listening a few times)
I am not a singer and probably talked a few times instead of singing
No one else was home so I went for it(singing)

Its been a complete joy working with Eppy and through our e-mails we share a
interest in ambient music( especially Mr. Brian Eno) and when I responded to a
forum post about collaborating I made a jokingly rferance to being on a Freud like couch playing air guitar to music I had written the night before on the ceiling (NOT knowing that Eppy/Ian was a Psychologist) it was some tome after I read his bio and got a bit of goosebumps and a do do do do effect

anyway I hope to collaborate again with Eppy and enjoyed this Transcontinetal
collaboration!

Not so disastrous, after all
Good lyrics, EG. I haven't been able to do rap yet. It's just
not my styling. I really shouldn't be too critical because of
this fact. However, I think the delivery could have a little
more energy or conviction. The diction is quite clear. I like
that. I like the percussion...nice phaser effect.
dwwave said 1572 days ago (July 21st, 2005)
Not so disastrous, after all
Eppy's Lyric's(posted in a collboration request forum) was the catalyst for my involvement musically, I felt a connection,
a similiarity in the darkness, I wish (being that I posted the piece) that he could
have the oppurtunity to reply and take credit for his excellent lyric work.

I am not sure who is being referred to as the rapper , it was probably the way
I delivered the words, it (honestly folks) my first recorded singing attempt
so it is what it is. The exact genre of the song is / was not the starting point
I do not believe for Eppy

It's sad that today London once again became another Catstrophic City.

Thanks for listening and posting, working with Eppy has been a wonderful
experience and nothing I have posted has generated this much interest
so I think it's Eppy!

Nice to see EG's name here!
I've been wondering when I'd see another song with your
name attached to it!
I agree that songwriting can be catharsis and you've
expressed yourself very well here.
Nice accompaniment by dwwave!

I liked the idea of varying the voice..either by effects or
even panning from one side to the other....

Nice to see EG's name here!
I am sure glad I responded to Eppy's forum post for collaboartion wanted

I also wish that he could reply to these very kind and positive comments to

his awesome lyrics on this song. (Maybe he can I will e-mail him and ask him

to try as it seems like I am getting to much credit for a drum loop that

was tweaked and warped) a midi bass piece and a first take vocal

actually a first take of any singing vocal!

Thanks for listening and posting

Thanks everyone
I want to say many thanks again to dwwave for all his
efforts, his comments on this page and his humility
in not wanting to take too much credit for this track.
Actually, I just slapped some words together that
seemed to fit my mood and picked the picture that I
liked best to accompany the track… everything else
was from my esteemed collaborator. I look forward to
the next piece and I've just written some more lyrics
which I hope will provide suitable inspiration. We may
submit another version of this track with me trying
out the vocals, but I can't promise that my efforts will
be much cop.
Thanks also to the amazingly generous and talented
MacJammers who voted and/or commented on this
track. PV, Jesushairdo, Mando, Bronco, deniallabs,
Caroline, Richard and Mysti… you're all great and I
appreciate your contributions.
