Description
A few weeks ago, several MacJammers were having a group meeting in iChat. The subject came up about SlimGirl's birthday approaching soon. Mystified asked, "Do you have any plans for her, Alimar"? Well, needless to say, the wheels started rolling, and similar to “Mixed Nuts”, the process began.
Contacting everyone, mentioning what was in the works, sparked an interest for collaborating I have never experienced. A few days later, I created a "loop" based song, with every type of change I could think of hoping anyone caring to participate could find a place to insert their own "style". I held another "town meeting" to share the initial song bed. To my surprise, submissions arrived by the hour. Full verses, rhythm sections, vocal lyrics and snippets, transitions and modulations poured in... eventually replacing most of the original loops. Everyone who submitted parts submitted unconditionally!
The enthusiasm from everyone involved was overwhelming. Mysti, PGreenstone, Tom Atwood and I sent the "work in progress" back and forth continuously. If it weren't for them, especially Tom critiquing every morning, I don't know how I'd have gotten through it. Everyone else "buzzed" in daily to hear the progress.
Folks, I couldn't have done this without ALL of you. I tried to contact as many MJers as possible, but fell short by not being as thorough as possible. Several decisions had to be made as far as overall compositional continuity. So I apologize for leaving out certain parts, in order to make it "flow" better, and not become too cluttered. You have all done a marvelous job on this birthday tribute! – Alimar
Mystified, pgreenstone and I mainly served as additional ears for Alimar. Fresh ears. And he needed them, because I believe it is safe to say Alimar put in hundreds of hours on this wonderful piece. Everyone contributed in some way, but in the end, this is really a masterful job of organizing, editing, mixing and inspiring by Alimar. Excellent work! - Tom Atwood

Lyrics
Lyrics to come

In early May, 2004, I contacted a member of MacJams,
whom I thought had a unique style of singing and
composing. I asked if she were interested in collaborating
on an existing song she had posted at another site, asking
for suggestions, and possible assistance in producing the
song. She agreed to send her original version of "Don't
Take That Road", from which I wrote a complete new
composition around her existing vocals. I produced the
vocals, and combined the new music and within three
days, she posted it at Macjams.
It was the beginning of a unique friendship from accross
the ocean, having never met in person... only on iChat in
audio and video chats. We have since collaborated on a
number of songs which have been received very well, and
have won several awards on many music websites.
SlimGirlFat, you will always have a special place in my life.
I am, and always shall be your friend. One day we shall
meet in person. Happy Birthday!
— Alimar
