Lyrics

now, everybody knows
nothing is enough...
-but whichever way the wind blows,
people need to keep in touch...

-because moments like these: see?
they go so fast...
and leave nothing in the future
but a long look back...

and here it comes...

this is the one about the time
that you told the truth...
four flights up in a railroad room...
-that was the day you gave into despair...
and buried your face
in her black, black hair...

well, everybody knows
everything must go...
so, what's left to understand?
-just give back everything you owe
until nothing is enough at last...

now, every man stands on a plan
he needs to believe is true...
and that is why a woman
always has something to do...
now, i believe in dreams and these kids,
these kids are alright...

-just hold on to your innocence:
hold on tight...

because there's a part of me
that still 13, that's never going to leave...
no, not like this: snow drifting in the air...
like happiness, it doesn't care
about wrong or right:
-just look at all that's beautiful
in my life...

now, every day is a holiday...
and every meal a banquet...
you got it made, yeah, you got it made...
-you just don't know it.....yet.

see you later...

Remarkable restraint!
From the first few bars, this was going to be a winner, and I wasn't disappointed!! I was waiting with bated breath for the drums and bass to come in in the first section (was expecting bigger guitars, but that wasn't a problem). Loved the way you varied the last section - there's always something unexpected in a jonx song. Another excellent post - both lyrically and musically!!

Look, this is just good...
It's well written, with both clarity and the wisdom to leave a piece unsaid, and your singing, as usual, is excellent. The electric sound is sparse and clean, including the guitar playing, which I love, and the bass and drums.

Every bit is top notch.

so very very good
Remarkable the emotions that you are able to tap and stir... aalso I'm hearing a new side to your voice... you've got the understated emotion thing down, but this required you to push more... with more edge... and your voice was perfect still... I think you make exellent artistic choices in what is implied but never stated... this is a thread that runs through much of your work

American laid back music...
... is not what I really dig, but this one is a masterpiece. Recalls me the best of JJ Cale. As usual, fantastic singing, blah blah blah... nothing to add to what is usualy said on every post you make. For me, your best song to this day.

I thought "R.L. Burnside"
on the first few bars. This is a refreshing change from your usual more obviously introspective material, not that there's anything wrong with that, but the drums totally rock on this, and it sets up a bit better for me that change to that intropective midsection. I sort of missed the blues riffing that was at the beginning and I felt like the song could've gone back to that groove at the end. It seems like the last verse could fit with the same structure, so I don't know why you didn't go back to it. Old habits die hard I guess. I'll just have to play the beginning again.

I knew it!
Your song art gives you away. Finally the reason for your great work has been revealed: Three hands (at least)! How will you otherwise explain that photo?

Seriously, though, this is really great.

It always makes my day seeing an email notification about a new upload of yours and it's even better when it's a full length song :)

Loved the beginning guitar riff and when the drums and bass kicked in - the groove was complete.

Yet again, you've made it to my iPod without a hint of hesitation!

Wow! Another wonderful song by you. When it starts it reminds me a bit of "Subterranean Homesick Blues" (Johnny's in the basement / Mixing up the medicine / I'm on the pavement / Thinking about the government, etc.); just the feel is similar.

As others have pointed out, you show a side of your singing that I haven't heard before (in the blues section), and it sounds great. Being a constant experimenter, I'd be curious to know what that first section would sound like if you were singing more loudly; I feel like you're holding back a bit, vocally, but that may be exactly the quality you're looking for, and as I say, it definitely sounds great.

It then morphs into a different feel (is it a different song?), which sounds more like other Jonx songs I've heard, but is none the less moving because of it.

Nice job.

nothing is enough
I'm no expert on this kind of music (classical is my background), but I thoroughly enjoyed (1) the composition; (2) your vocals; (3) the general mix of the whole performance. This strikes me as a very evocative song. Your variations in the guitar are welcomed at every turn of the way... I'm no poet, so I'll leave the lyric critique to someone who does know... Seem to "fit" the general mood of your music, though. I am glad I listened to this and hope to hear more of your things.

Great track - well written, sung, played, stuctured - actually the structure is very inventive and pushed this over the top. Nice to meet you. Thanks.

The opening guitar is great. Then comes the vocal then it all opens up. Sweet. Nice breaks and bridge. Very professional. Lyrics are great, very poetic.
