Description

Edit: I'm changing this to "Open Collaborations". I'm open to suggestions and interpretations.

Another experiment in my quest to merge classical with modern electronica. Why am I so fascinated with it? Who knows, but it makes it very difficult to attach a genre to this on MacJams.

I've been experimenting with the audio abilities of my synthesizer, too. So this song is half software instruments and half Korg sounds; all played by me. No loops, 'cept for some chopped up percussion.

Anyone want to mess with this? Let me know! I reached a point with it that I don't want to add to it anymore, but I'd love to hear some vocals. Thanks for listening.

Mmm, maybe the reason you keep wanting to merge the classical and electronica genres is because you're so darn good at it.

Your special gift is for injecting a deep pathos into synth-made music so it really touches the listener on a deep level while soaring through an amazing range of tones and textures.

Brings everything together
Very Well done. Love the major / minor transitions you often do.

Mixing electronica and classical fascinates me incredibly. You amaze me with it. You probably see me switch back and forth between the genre's, but I can never seem to put them together just right. You do it perfectly though.

I used to use many samples from my korg, but don't any more. Thanks for the reminder - I might give it a try again soon. :)

I find myself in this same sort of vibe...

This is a very spacious mix, and a great listen. Managing that thing I admire in other people's recordings, of being full without being busy... full, simple, enough, a nice spread of tones and timbres and textures...

	I've Always thought that classical music was meant to merge with electronica. This song is a good example of why it works. You're really good. Too good... you're definitely a professional. I struggle a bit with the production end of things, so your comment was really reassuring. I still have these annoying little clicks on the audio clips that I record directly from my synthesizer. I'm trying to figure out how to remedy that. But on this tune, I was indeed aware of how I wanted the sounds to appear on the depth of field. Thanks very much for thoughtful review!

Outside of a box
but it's a good place to be. I have to agree about the 'space' thing that's been mentioned. It's one of those things that I hear, but can't articulate, so I'm glad when someone else does. This is a really nice combination of voicings. Given your choices of genres, I think you chose well! It sounds like you were fortunate enough to have a Northern Lights show while you were unable to get to sleep. That happens sometimes.

what does poly-rhythmic mean? LOL! I'm such a dunce when it comes to music terminology, I had to go look that up! This song was merely an experiment when I started it ; and I was hoping someone would say "gosh, this is pretty half-assed, so I'll relieve her and mix it up a bit". But I ended up spending a lot more time on it than I originally anticipated because, as you said, I started seeing the movie behind the music. I think you heard and saw it too. I consider this a beautiful, polished, complete piece of music just as it is. I love your compositional decisions on this song, which is masterfully arranged. Your artistic side continues to grow.

Glad we are fortunate enough to be the audience you play to.
I'm enjoying this piece a lot! I've been a fan for ... gosh coming up on years now, ( I love MacJams). Sorry this is my first comment. This song is a different direction in some ways than your earlier arrangements, yet I can still hear MissChaos through out. By the way is that your voice back there? I love the gracefulness of the piano "moments" and the return to electronica. You've always done a great job of making use of space and do it again here. This morning driving in to work listening to it, as I have for the past few days, I image a story with a theme of overall danger tied with the beauty of tragedy. Mixing the classical elements with electronic, sounds difficult to me but you've done a good job with it.
