Description
i recorded this song on an old foxtex VF-80, which is now out of commision. I have recently redone this song, and the production values are better, but there's something missing, so i still prefer this one, but some of the levels are off, and there's some hiss and muddy parts, so put down your note pads.

Pwoerful track. Has a Tool vibe, full of weight and brooding, internal thought. I really like the above fretboard plucked sounds. There is a garage demo feel to it all, mainly coming from the lack of effects on the vocals, slightly off key singing in a few spots (for example: "let not these things" and the phrase just before the word "shoulder") (...altho I really like the way you play with with vocal bends in most places and your overall vocal stylings), and the sense of oversaturation at the climax (when singing and gtr distortion interact). Still, a powerful song. If it is not distorted on tape, consider remixing and trying to remove conflicting EQs between the distortion and the vocal tracks, and resinging some of the verse phrases, usually the lower voice track, especially near the opening. Otherwise, really nice arrangement, wonderful harmony choices, writing, concept and performance. (Consider posting lyrics, it makes it easier to not only follow but comment on.)

Powerful track
...sorry for the misspelling. Too early in the morning for good proofing, it seems.

thank you
vocals have always been an issue for me. For a while i lived in a townhouse, now i'm in a basement apartment, so i can't really let go and sing my heart out on a track like that, which requires some high decible, from the gut/heart kind of stuff. So I do my vocals at the cottage with no neighbours, but that leaves me in a position to do as many tracks as i can in a short period of time, which ultimately leads to several tracks with half-assed vocals.
There are very few sogs i've recorded with which i am satisfied, and 9 times out of 10 it's the vocals. That's probably the one thing that makes me hesitant to present a demo to someone in the industry. Any time I perform live somewhere, I get endless pats on the back for being such a good singer, then i throw something down on cd, and it sounds like ass.

Singing with neighbors
For my first show that was staged in NYC, I needed to write 3 songs and record them for the cast while staying at a relatives home in White Plains, before I moved to New York for good. A rush job, to be finished before an opening. While I was staying upstairs, the host family's son died. In order to stay on schedule I needed to keep writing and recording (and singing) upstairs while the family mourned downstairs. Needless to say, my vocals suffered. (Altho I have never been accused of having a great voice, regardless of circumstances.) I hope you are able to share some of your studio tracks at MJ some day.
