Description
I wish I could say this one took three hours, but it was more like 30. Anyway, it came out really close to what I envisioned. I think Chris was about to punch me after asking for about the 20th guitar overdub. It's definetly some of his most creative playing. Barbara came in and did a nice job with the vocals, great voice. It was the first time I've worked with her, hopefully she will come sing some more. The lyrics are about getting outside, (OK, sex on the beach), and probably my growing frustration with Seattle's gloomy weather and a need for some time on a warm beach.

Lyrics
Motion's Mine (Lyrics, Rich Huston, Music Rich Huston and Chris Winters)
Ocean divine
Your motion mine
Oh, what could we do with all this time?
Sandy toes, and feelin' the sign
My girl..watch for tides, on the way
My boy...on the beaches, crustaceans play
My girl...a seashell muse, we drift all day
till the moon ends our rays
Oh, ocean divine
What could we do to express our mind?
your smile divine
Moonlit and sand, your motion mine
My, girl, feel the wind, your salty hair
My boy, I look to you, a tide inside
My girl, lover muse, rolling waves
And we...till our tans begin to sway
Solo
Oh, ocean divine
What could we do to express our mind?
With all this time
In the sand, we feel the signs
Not coming from the sea
Oh the wave
Not coming from the sea
Oh the wave
Not coming from the sea
Oh the wave
Till our tans, begin to sway
Inside an ocean, where I've lost my way
Ocean divine
Your motion mine
Oh, what could we do with all this time?
Sandy toes, and feelin' the sign
My girl..watch for tides, on the way
My boy...on the beaches, crustaceans play
My girl...a seashell muse, we drift all day
till the moon ends our rays
Oh, ocean divine
What could we do to express our mind?
your smile divine
Moonlit and sand, your motion mine
My, girl, feel the wind, your salty hair
My boy, I look to you, a tide inside
My girl, lover muse, rolling waves
And we...till our tans begin to sway
Solo
Oh, ocean divine
What could we do to express our mind?
With all this time
In the sand, we feel the signs
Not coming from the sea
Oh the wave
Not coming from the sea
Oh the wave
Not coming from the sea
Oh the wave
Till our tans, begin to sway
Inside an ocean, where I've lost my way

Bit of a change of pace this, isn't it???
Firstly, i assume Barb isn't American, as she's got the kind of foreign pronounciation which I find really , er, well, she's got a very appealing voice (sounds a little like one of the girls from Xmal Deutschland). I need a few more listens on this - it's a nice poppy track (not sure about shoe gazing), and the structure is fine, but the chorus feels like it needs a bit more ooomph. On my crap Vaio, the vocal sounds a little loud and dry, and the guitar a liitle too much in the background. Great bass as per, and some really nice guitar work from Chris - the solo almost sounds backward.
Will have a chew on this.
