Description
Fun little song with a good mix. We were talking about how Van Halen video women always drove sports cars, and Chris ran with it and came up with "Hybrid Hotties." Silly, but fits the Pixies like music.

Lyrics
Hybrid Hottie

Lyrics & Vocals: Chris Winters
Music: Rich Huston & Chris Winters

Flash of silver in my rear view mirror
Come up beside me look what we have here
Long dark hair and a ruby smile
And you only burn a gallon over 40 miles

What do I see?
Beads in the window, colors of Chihuly
Picking up a passing scent of patchouli
Causes on the bumper an iPod on the dash
Hybrid hottie, you’re gonna make me crash

I like that you’re a big NPR donor
I suspect that you’re a secret stoner
You’re into Bob Marley, dolphins and whirrled peas
Hybrid hotties are so hard to please

What are you thinking glancing at me coolly
Do you feel connected you can tell me truly
I turn my head when your eyes flash
Hybrid hottie, you’re gonna make me crash

Radio Friendly
I could totally picture this playing on some college station in Lawerence, Kansas or Missoula, Montana on a summer day.

Funny
Ok, the lyrics of this song are cool.

All the instrumental parts are well played. (Interesting drum sound by the way.) and the guitarist in the middle channel has some cool licks, for instance right after the chorus. Having three guitars is pretty cool period, and you use them well.

Now about that chorus. This song is just an inch away from being truly memorable; I think a slightly better hook for the chorus would make all the difference. Right now you have a good first line, but no one is going to remember the second. Is what I think.

few things
Yeah, this song still has a few rough edges, bad notes, but I figured I'd just run with it. Maybe we'll remix it

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Why am I laughing so hard? It's not even that funny. But it is funny! Great lyrics. Quirky music. I love it when people write songs that I enjoy but would never in a hundred years think of myself.

I'm sure this occured to Chris while driving around on this beautiful sunny week in Seattle. It is this time of the year that Seattelites shed their fleece and us boys start to take notice.

this reminds
me a little of a band called "the cars" from the eighties....i've seen thier videos and heard the music...and your voice sounds like their lead singer......fun song...

p.s.; read your comment on my track"kats pick"... i forgot to add that i used a zoom A2 acoustic guitar processor with the martin ds28 preset before going into the tascam audio interface....i t does wonders for the crappy piezo pickup output...peace...

Cars
Funny you mention that, I thought it was like the cars and the pixies messhed up. Chris and I definetly seem to be calling out the spirit of 80's and early 90's pop rock alternative. I guess your influences always show through.

cars n girls
Hey guys - yeah, great little tune, and your right, quite pixie-ish guitars, which sound wonderful. i love the chorus - it's catchy but really quirky. i think the lyrics are really funny, but I think it puts the track in a category that maybe doesn't suit the music - I mean, this works, but I think if you really wanted to do something with the track, I'd change the lyric ... not that it's not good, but it makes it a kinda 'novelty' thing, and I think the music is too good for this.

that said, i know EXACTLY where you're coming from ... summer, cars and girls ....

summer
ahhh, cruising, the heat, girls, girls....

This is a goodtime of year. I'm a little iffy myself on silly lyrics, but then again that kind of stuff does have radio appeal. I could live without it, but I have to admit I probably remember every song that had some funny angle of the last 10 years that hit the radio. "Watching x-files with the lights off..." and so many others. Anyway, its a fun change.

.... more cars n girls...
... yeah, it's nice to inject a bit of fun into the music sometimes .. i often forget! I really like this track, and am very tempted to ask you to let me have a play with it, but i've got such a lot of stuff to work on i dunno when I'd get onto it. I did some vocals on a song i posted this weekend, which were ... OK 9i got a load of legal drugs on friday and they helped clear my nose a bit), so I'm starting to work on stuff again. I've got one track that i want to do vocals on first, and then i'll get onto our collab.

Be well!
