Description
This is a remake of an old song. The original singer kinda bombed it, but I thought the guitar track was great, so we redid the vocals and I redid the bass and remixed it with all my new mixing skills. Troy came in and put some live drums on the track and, TaDa Ghost Hoodie rides again...

Vocals, Lyrics, Guitars: Chris Winters
Bass and Mix: Rich Huston
Drums: Troy Woody

Lyrics: Chris Winters
Music: Rich Huston, Chris Winters

I dreamed about you last night
Couldn’t tell the season
I dreamed we had another fight
Didn’t give a reason

Sometime in the past several years
I decided
A choice between hopes and fears
Undivided

Every day is a troubled exercise
In how to please you
Darkest thoughts start to metastasize
I just appease them

Can’t shake this feeling that I
Am better off alone
I need to simplify
And stay with what I know
Feeling so remote
Why do I stay around
This ship just cannot float
It’s run aground

I know I’ve got it good
It’s so comfortable here
Don’t think that I could
Easily disappear

metastasize
that's one hell of a word to manage to cram in a pop song, soundwise or sensewise. Cheers for that and for the rest.

Cramming funny words in
I thought that was pretty funny he put that in there, and used correctly as well. A few songs back I got the word crustacean in a song which I thought was pretty sharp.

Hooky little beast this - Chris's voice sounds great (even more Bowie than me) - the verse guitar sounds a little thin, but when the chorus guitar kicks in it sounds great ... otherwise, the mix is ace (great stereo spread on the drums, Rich). Kickin' solo as per.

I just posted a track I'd have loved you guys to put some stuff to, but I did it in Logic Pro ... i'll think ahead next time! Guitar reminds me a bit of James Dean Bradfield - excellent work!

All about the hook
The question is, who can be the most Bowie! The contest is on. In a month we'll all be remaking Stardust.

I thought about the guitar being a little thin, which is why I rerecorded the bass heavy on the mids, to fill up the spectrum of sound a bit. The problem with getting better at mixing is it tends to show any faults in the sound spectrum a bit more.

I'll check out the track you posted. I don't really have a good way to listen to MacJam songs so I'm a bit behind on listening to others tracks.

Great
sound on this and yes, even more Bowie than Echoroom. I really like the mix but tend to agree with Echroom's comments about the slightly thin guitar on the verse (perhaps double tracking it might help) but otherwise it's excellent.

Double Tracking
I did double track the guitars, I think it could have used a third guitar track, that had a little mids in it to even the sound out a bit. This was an old track I revied, so didn't want to go to too much trouble. Thanks for the compliments.

more bowie then steve?
who woulda thunk. mixing is ace. alot of clarity and definition. I see what the others say about the guitar. could be doubled true. But I think now that your getting your mixing down you find that more space is created, allowing you to add more. never ends does it?
also dug the outro guitar solo, great tone.

More Bowie than Steve
That sounds like a band name, not a good one, but it does. The mixing is coming a long, figuring out how to do it. Exactly, about the more clarity leaves more room to add more. I'm also learning how to add in things in the right frequency so they don't compete. This was a first working example. That outro solo does have some great tone.

I'd be Simon
I'd pay to see that. The Judges could be me (Simon) Ledebutant (Paula) and, well we would need a jovial x-member of journey. Maybe Steve Perry isn't doing anything?

Peng!
You know you guys are one of my favs. Another very good song. You should write for Bowie because I haven't heard anything good from him in a long time. I'm not really joking. I could really hear him singing your stuff. Very good gentlemen.

Writing for Bowie
I think Chris and I would have been a great band for Bowie instead of doing the whole Tin Machine thing. Reeves just isn't much of a song-writer and really seemed to not like Bowie musically. I hold him personally responsible for a lot of mediocre music, though Outside is a pretty great album.

Hey!
Great tune.

I love the live drums- makes all the difference!

Arranging-wise, I love that it's guitar, bass, and drums. That lends focus to the vocals, and provides a fresh, clean, professional sound.

Some hot guitar playing, too, love the solo at the end!

Live Drums
Isn't it great to hear live drums? I'm telling you, electric kit drums rock. They sound great, and you can record them anywhere. We've been recording them in my tiny apartment living room, and its no louder than a stereo playing. Can do a five hour session and the neighbors don't even know it happened. Have to watch the brass though, tend to be loud and unruly.

I love the three piece sound, like the Smiths and U2, not too much double-tracking and guitars like a lot of music.

Rainbow Sandwhich is such a great song!
