Description
A once-famous lone flyer's story in a song.
Lou Cole - vocals & 12 string, Ken Totten, bass/guitar and engineer, Dennis Squier on keys, guitar and vocals, David Goodwin on lead guitar, drums - I forget who, but she was pretty good. I play flute on it, and a little sax for better or worse.
Recorded at the Texas Teahouse (long Gone) in Ocean Beach (the best kept secret in San Diego) by Ken on his half-inch 8 track.
Lou was a GREAT delta blues torch singer who taught me how to work out harmonies, bless her heart -- she was a "once-was" in Vegas, very good showman-type singer...
The song was a spoof. The band was called the Oneironauts (dream travelers). Those years were a lot of fun.

Wow
Very cool... I love the flute/guitar combination, and the expression in the vocals. Nice songwriting too... parts of this sounded to me like old Jethro Tull, like from "Stand Up". I dig it.

Thanks
Yes, Lou Cole was a great vocalist and everyone strived to keep up with her. Her old man, Ken Totten was a very gifted audio engineer who taught everyone all about recording -- the pic is him in his very cool little garage band studio.

Alright - this is weird
good weird. Sensimilla Airheart? LOL. You gotta fill in the dots on this. I assume you're playing flute - and doing a great job too. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for your impressions!
I added info above about the band...
Additionally, Lou and Ken let me join them when the band was named Skinn & Bones -- heavy GD influences from Ken, and Delta blues and torch songs from Lou. We played small bars (dives, really) at beach places in San Diego, plus occasional weddings and lots of parties. That was my initiation to playing in a group in front of a real audience.
We made TENS OF DOLLARS!

Did one or more of you ever experiment with drugs?
Vocals are really amazing and the flute sounds take me back to the day, even though I was never on that side of consciousness.

This was recorded in 1984? I sounds like it was written in 1964!

Thanks for sharing this.

PLEASE contact me! I am looking for information about Ken Totten, it would mean the world to me if you could send me an email so we could talk, please. I know he passed away in 99. Thank you so much!
