Description
This is actually a Caustic Autumn song. We wrote it last night.
I was playing it today on the acoustic and decided to record it.

it's poorly mixed, the trebly pluck of the guitar is a little hard on the ears. I apologize.

Lyrics
What's that you're reading?
I promise you I don't know the name.
I choose between me and mine, so I guess we're even.
It saves me from breathing.

Please just whisper something sweet to me my friend.
It feels so good to know I never have to bend.
Please just hint at some good use for me and my hands.
This is little more than means to an end.

So I hear you're leaving.
I promise you this place will never be the same.
You choose between you and yours.
You don't have to tell me,
but it'd save me the bleeding.

Please just whisper something something sweet to me my friend.
It feels so good to know I'll never have to bend.
Please just hint at some good use for me and my hands.
This is little more than means to an end.

I never leave this room

Please just whisper something sweet to me my friend.
It feels so good to know I'll never have to bend.
Please just hint at some good use for me and my hands.
This is little more than means to an end.

Please just offer something sweet to me my friend.
It feels so good to know I'm never asked to mend.
Instead just find some good use for me and my plans.
This is little more than means to an end.

I never leave this room.

Dark power ballad
A powerful idea worth working on. I would definitely use the acoustic track you have as you build the arrangement. Some ideas: It could get electric at the "I never leave this room" break, go back to acoustic for the next to last ending chorus, and then electric for the last repeat, and then fade out different instruments at a time. Vocally, your lead works throughout, except when you get muffled and far away at the end of the chorus. But the backing vocals flat a few times in ways that don't serve the song. (All of your flatting in the lead works for me, is emotional and tearing.) Don't wreck it with drums, unless used sparingly if you go electric in these 2 spots. But if you use perc, consider hand drums, not a kit, for most of it. Great song. Potentially an amazing power ballad.

very moving song..
What a deep emotional song with several interpretations for the meanings of the words....I think the realistic sound of the guitar adds to the mix. Severe drama going on here. Really enjoyed this. You sing and play very well. Thanks for sharing.

hey there
been awhile. this is what i expect from you, really nice. love the sound of that acoustic at the beginning of the song. kept picturing your big electric guitar sound to come in, although I'm assuming that this is a work in progress. if not, i still think it's great this way. vocals sound great, nice harmonies.

This is an outstanding song
The lyrics are powerful and effective, and the vocal performance is outstanding - rich with feeling and depth. This song could be excellent just as it is - acoustic guitar and voice (although it could be remixed for sound, and I would not fade out so quickly at the end) but it could also build up to something more dramatic. Either way, it's an excellent track. I haven't been around for a while and I've missed quite a bit, and this is one of the gems I'm really glad I found! Nice work. Peace.

so
Your dabbling in a conventional form. A chorus allows folks to latch on to a piece right from the get go. The other tunes in the album will grow on them over time. Good one.

Release...
I am not partial to distortion and electric guitars and try to take it in small doses, but I followed your directions to this song here and I am a big fan! Excellent.
