the handle on this cup is old

the plating is worn off
there's small dents and scrapes
not just on the handle
but all over the surface of the cup
it looks old and worn out
but there are no holes in this cup
it still holds water just fine
so why should it be replaced?
it's still functional...

I looked at the cup all during the dialog. First, I felt better about all the mismatched cups and plates in my kitchen cupboard. Then I began to wonder if this was really an analogy about old people and how society sees them as worthless. The rain made my thoughts wander to..to... WHA? OK, the ending shocked me. So much for looking forward to being old. lol
