Description
Matt and I have been working together virtually for almost exactly three years now and have finally managed to be in the same place at the same time. We're here together in Seattle posting this song and spent the last 24 hours at my house creating it and his taxi comes in 18 minutes, so we have to call it finished for now.
It was a ton of fun to be together and it definitely sped up the whole process from start to finish. We weren't sure we could pull it off and this isn't as polished as we know we could get it with more time, but we're pretty pleased with what we were able to accomplish in one day. Any and all feedback and suggestions are welcome. This is a work-in-progress.
It was wonderful being able to work together in real life and finding out that we don't hate each other.
A shout out to Carm Sciarotta for the live cymbals that make their debut here on the track.

Lyrics
Cartographies of misery and ecstasy,
mapping avalanches of falling stars
and burned-in scars.
Single stars in the spiral arms of nebulae,
growing closer,
leaking brightness.
They love this black hole
they call home.
How far are we from Earth?
Understanding how
to transmit ourselves home.
This is a song of innocence and experience.
Mis-spun orbits,
broken planets and forgiveness.
Dark-haired King of science,
draw the curtain on the sky.
Revolving stars indivisible
by the ground beneath us.
They love this black hole
they call home.
How far are we from Earth,
understanding how
to transmit ourselves home?
(repeats)

never sounded this cool. ethereal with a wonderful groove based on that excellent bass and drum soundbed. I'm really glad you guys don't hate each other, cause that might mean a slow down in the music production.
its great you guys took the effort to get together.
Lisa, love your voice and might suggest it get a wee boost in the mix.
