Description:
This is a song that Joe posted.

i put some guitars and lots of other stuff on it and added to its length, possibly a bit too much. Great fun playing in different scales and tunings. Once again i have got a bit lost in it and can't hear it anymore, so here is hoping somebody can make some suggestions, or even take it on and play around with it. Joe does some great tunes, with plenty of inventiveness and ability. I love this tune as it was.

Hardware:
Strat, firewire solo, pod line 6. ebow, mr wammy and beans on toast

cool &mdash 08/17/08 - 11:14:23 AM
the guitar is just I would think that song needed. you could stick with the theme you have with the alternative scales and volume swells and then put your guitar more forward in the mix, then play less and let the notes you do play ring longer, might make it more ambient. It still sounds cool as it is.

thanxs man &mdash 08/20/08 - 03:34:47 PM
the mix was a real issue, i have had so many problems with this track, still not resolved. i could not get the drums any higher in the mix, there was a bit too much on this version i feel.

Very &mdash 08/17/08 - 01:13:59 PM
cleverly thought out piece that could also be Cinematic. I love those different scales and varying Rhythms...... the voices too add an air of mystery. Great collab, regards M

there are many many layers in this. Joe sent me 11 tracks and i added another 29... joe's piece is incredible, it changes a lot which was an exciting challenge. The songs starts out on DADGAD.

beans on toast &mdash 08/17/08 - 04:23:16 PM
amazingly enough, what we're having for supper. And a brilliant track by which to enjoy it. You have an amazing ear Steve, for fleshing out the most on guitar..the spoken voice was trippy as well.

Zen &mdash 08/18/08 - 12:22:23 AM
Powerful stuff. The added guitars really take the track to a new level. Nice work by both collaborators. Perhaps you could have brought in the drums sooner and made them a little louder but then again that might ruin the meditative quality of the song.

cheers, yep those drums &mdash 08/20/08 - 04:00:23 PM
i could not get that sound up. There was too much going on at that point. I will cut back on a lot of stuff and give the whole thing a bit more space, redo the drum parts.

Rising sun. &mdash 08/18/08 - 12:21:08 PM
Awesome. Unlike you, Tokai, I think this piece ends too soon. The machine starts cranking up at about 4:25, after a long (beautiful) quasi-ambient build. It seems like you're just starting to fall into a powerful groove, then it ends. I wanted more, I guess. Excellent work.

it could have gone on &mdash 08/20/08 - 04:03:30 PM
But i had played what i had so many times, and the time span was already an issue. The drums where last minute. cheers

rising sun or lost in space &mdash 08/19/08 - 07:16:46 AM
I am waking up with this tune and how appropriate the title today/for me
great sounding stuff and inspired playing
the line 6 has great sounds/endless
i have one but have not been using it much
it is good just for a bit of inspiration / when you find a great sound / like you have here
this reminds me of some old John Abercrombi where he plays with Jon Hammer/the famed Miami Vice music genius
Real real good listen/twice
thanks
PS still messing with the ktb version of blackwater(do or Die)
your words where very helpfull/I'll update u soon

Space &mdash 08/20/08 - 07:13:03 AM
I like the sound spaces created here. Not sure where Joe ends and you begin but the result is good. The guitar at the end is well placed.

Thanks
Bill

Very well played! Great dynamics throughout. Perhaps I'll try some "beans on toast" before my next recording!

Personally, I can't fault this mix. Sounds excellent to my ears Steve.

Mind-bending tuneage!

Be well friend!
