Description:
This is a new song that I tried to experiment with a few genres in it while keeping it smooth and not super fast: blues, classic rock, metal, and big beat. It has blues solos, classic rock rifting, metal rifting, and big beat beats. It took a while but it's finally finished. It has a funky sound to it so I don't know what genre it'd be under since it crosses over with the others. Thanks to a couple friends who helped out with commenting on it and showing where I can improve on it. Anyways tell me what you think! :D

Thanks ! ! ! &mdash 08/19/08 - 03:24:31 AM
Thanks Feter for checking out my new song. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if fusing these genres would work but I guess it did. I'm glad you enjoyed the guitars too- the solos were hard to fit with all the different sounds. Thanks again for your kind words! :D

Great guitar! &mdash 08/19/08 - 04:27:23 AM
Love the guitar on this one!
You've got chops man.
I noticed the picture of a Dragon, which I give you extra points for.
I hope you are playing guitar in a band. :-)
It would be a waste if you weren't jammin with some dudes.
Nice mix of sounds on here.
Excited to hear more!

Cheers,
Dragonas

Solo : ) &mdash 08/19/08 - 04:30:17 AM
Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the song. I don't play in a band and don't have the time at all since I'm working on a transfer to a new university for my film major. Maybe in the future perhaps. For now though it's solo and make something if I have the free time to do so. The dragon gives me bonus points? lol Thanks for your feedback! : )

Cool jam. &mdash 08/19/08 - 06:04:13 PM
Great mix of genres. Wicked guitar playing. Sounds like the bass drum might be clipping here and there.

Genres and Drums :D &mdash 08/19/08 - 06:20:00 PM
Thanks Roca_Atomica. I know it isn't everyone's favorite or maybe not as good as previous works but at least maybe the genres can fit and surprise some people. I'm not sure why the drums are doing that- I have four different tracks running so perhaps one of them could be off balanced or slightly off beat compared to the others. I'll look into that. Thanks again! :D

word! &mdash 08/20/08 - 02:15:42 PM
personally, I would give the rhythm guitar a little shorter reverb, and a little extra peak around 200-250 Hz, just to give it that bassy edge. it sounds a little too radio-filter as it is, in my opinion. the crunch on the kick is nice, but it stands out a little too much, so it sounds like digital clipping.

k, I'm done with criticism now hehe. on to good things: it's got groove, edge, and attitude. really dug some parts of your solo, they stood right out and said "bugger off" in a really impressive way.

Helpful :D &mdash 08/20/08 - 02:25:19 PM
Thanks shavingronaldscar for some useful advice. I will definitely try some of this out. I definitely don't want parts sounding digitally clipped- no no no. Bad thing for sure. Got to fix that. I'm glad you enjoyed the guitars and all too. Thanks for your review showing parts that work and parts that could use improvement; it's very helpful. Thanks again! :D

Ha ha... &mdash 08/20/08 - 02:40:01 PM
I think you've created a whole new genre here man! "Punk Potpourri?"

Interesting arrangement. Excellent lead riffing. Not only the playing, but the tonal quality as well. Love it!

You've hooked me. Now I'll have to check out some of your other stuff...

Be well!

Thanks Wark. You're too kind. I'm not really sure on the genre(s) but if it works I guess it's a okay for everyone lol. Just trying something new is all to get a variety in there for everyone. You got some pretty awesome songs too especially with your song "Aftermath (Remixed)". Thanks again! :D

Song &mdash 08/20/08 - 03:05:07 PM
Very cool song here. I am also hearing the bass drum problems, almost drowns out the rest in some spots on my speakers. Love to listen again if you have time to change the mix a bit.

Thanks
Bill

Sound Issues? : \ &mdash 08/20/08 - 08:19:50 PM
I'm glad you enjoyed it Bill however I'm not sure if I understand the problem with the bass drums for the song since it seems to work fine on many other people's speakers and I tried the song out also with head phones, in the car, and my regular speakers here. Perhaps changing the equalizer could help out with the playback for you. I'll look into it though : )

Cool &mdash 08/20/08 - 08:22:08 PM
IS it you on the guitar sounds pro. The beat kick A few change ups to the tempo might give it the needed break from the 120 but still a cool listen enjoyed.

Tempo Adjusting &mdash 08/20/08 - 09:43:32 PM
Haha the tempo is at 102. I tried 110 and it was way too fast and ruined the guitar solos and beats. I also tried it a little slower and that didn't work so I kept it at 102. Glad you enjoyed it though. Thanks :D

flub flub &mdash 08/22/08 - 09:32:13 PM
Ya know all I meant was the fact that the song was the same tempo throughout It didnt matter 120 or what ever i thought a change was in need well its all subjective! good song only offering some constructive criticsism!

I really enjoyed this. Great soloing.
I like to read comments whilst listening. If someone writes "...but the bavarian cheese whistle part was too...blah blah"
then everyone starts listening purely for that part and then it is..blah. I want to provide positive feedback aswell as get positive feedback but sometimes..well,maybe that's exactly how the artist wanted it.

Enlightenment lol : ) &mdash 08/22/08 - 08:46:31 PM
Thanks for your kind words shiner. Yeah I haven't really noticed it but now I do with people paying attention for one part. Sometimes it works for people but others it doesn't. It's great if that's how it was intended but when people don't like it then I guess too bad then. I really enjoy though if I mess something up someone has a solution which is always awesome. Thanks for listening to it : )

another cool track... &mdash 09/05/08 - 03:03:02 PM
some of the guitar riffs have a definite David Gilmour quality to them, which works well. you hold back on the shredding just enough, and bring it out in the right spots; which is not easy to do sometimes. interesting, and dynamic arrangement as well. it kind of reminds me of something that Buckethead would do which makes it innovative already, great track...

Yay :D &mdash 10/16/08 - 10:01:09 PM
Thanks friend. I'm glad you enjoyed the track. I can see how experimental it is can be similar to Buckethead but the song is not worthy of his awesomeness haha. I was trying to work with balancing the guitars where it'd be simple but then solo to spice it up here and there. I'm glad you thought it worked out since it was very experimental this time for me. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment on it! :D
