Description:
So I've been trying to play my guitar better. Right? Trying for more picking and melodic/harmonic notes that complement my vocals. So, this is what I've come up with! Hope you like!Lyrics:
THE CASTLEStacey K. Black © 2008 i'm afraid to give too much of myself to anyone i'm afraid i'll never see me again i don't want grabbing hands to touch and tear apart all i have done i am afraid to become lovers my friend i'm afraid... of you serve me a cup of courage i'll drink it down until then i don't want you around you are standing there so boldly in my path and i'm guarding my castle, hoping no one makes me laugh i'm afraid if you touch me there i'll be gone i'll disappear i'm afraid to become a ghost could you spare me this part and excuse my feeble heart i'm afraid it's you i want the most i'm afraid... of you serve me a cup of courage i'll drink it down until then i don't want you around 'cause you are standing there so smugly in my path i'm guarding the castle hoping no one makes me laugh i'm afraid i'm afraid to give too much of myself of myself to anyone i'm afraid i'll never see me again i'm afraid... of you i'm afraid... of me too. Stacey- this is so simple and beautiful. I love how you sing this.. melody is very nice and the backing vocals really add so much.
Very nicely played and a really pretty guitar melody.

Relationships can be very scary, especially as you move beyond the cultivated superficialities and begin to glimpse the core of another person... predictably flawed and self-absorbed, to one degree or another.
It is natural to grow wary and careful when you experience heartbreak, however... the defenses we build in response are generally in inverse proportion to our inner strength and may insulate us not only from hurt, but from Life, as well. An empty castle is a cold place to dwell.
Your guitar work is improving and it provides a warm atmosphere for your best instruments --- your voice and your passion.
There's something about this particular song that reminds me a lot of Leonard Cohen... which is a VERY good thing. ;)

You did a marvelous job with this tune, the patience paid off. Great words and vocals and arrangement. I'm not sure I've heard anyone tackle this subject so boldly before.
I'm very impressed, I'll have to check out more of your tunes now!

...which is a good thing, because YOU HAVE A TAYLOR 814, and I might have to be unexpectedly critical out of sheer jealousy...
Nice picking, and nice recording of that picking. A very strong and steady support for your vocals. Your vocals can ALWAYS stand on their own, but it's nice having them supported from below with the nice picking patterns, including something faint, high and shimmery in there...
The lead vocal is non-dramatic, and that perfectly suits the song. You have the chops, and you have the good sense not to over-sing. And the harmonies are gorgeous. Anne Cozean better give a listen to these...In fact, I think I'll nudge her in this direction...
And the song itself is really strong...
From strength to strength, Stacey...

girl. You have what it takes to make it in the world of folk and contemporary expressionist. This has a sound of; in the studio with a producer and manager for the new to be current starlet.
You might try some soft brush snare drum and mild bass for a accompaniment. Not that it is needed, but would open it up to a wider field of markets. It is a certainty that other artist here would not hesitate to back you up if asked. Ask and yee shall benefit. Try the forum or individual artists.
Your wonderful and I'm going to take your song home with me. Thank you for being.

Stacey,
Wonderful as always. Your guitar playing is really coming along! But I am still just a total sucker for your harmonies....
