Okay, sorry bout the mis-post. Every time I listen to this, I find something that bothers me about it so, I give. EJH on Guitar. And he'd never consider himself "the g'itar man". And yep, I'm razzn him. Oh yeah, Karen, Ed had absolutely nothing to do with the title or concept. Really! In fact, he'd likely prefer that I didn't post this though, I tried not to, but couldn't resist. His only fault was in being gracious enough to allow me the freedom to have at it as i wished, kinda... I'll let him splain how it all came together, as I know he'll be more forthcoming w/ the makings of it.
Me, I had determined that I needed to practice penciling percussion. At some point, I thought, I'd be doing good to keep Ed's spontaneity alive. Hopefully I did well enough. So, if you consider that we just be jammin and trying to have a good time, then that's all I can ask for. I just love hearing this man strat his soul the way he did on this.
Thanks a bunch, Ed!
Hope ya enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by for a listen. Macca

Well, the thing that bugs me about Ed is that he's always blowing his own horn, except in his case it's a guitar, and I guess he's picking or strumming, or whatever the heck those guitar guys do, so I guess I shouldn't have said he was blowing anything, except maybe for smoke, but that's another story. Anyway, he's always saying things like, "Yeah, I AM the greatest guitar player since the Big Bang," and that bugs me because the Big Bang is only a theory, not a fact or anything like that, and me, I'm like ALL about facts. As everyone knows. So anyway, I thinking Ed should maybe do a little less boasting and a little more roasting, if you you know what I mean (and if you do, please explain it to me), but then I hear this, and I think maybe Ed was right all along; maybe he IS the King of guitar, and Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Eric Idle, and all those other guys who people think are great should check this out because it sure is cool.
Sorry; lost my train of thought there for a minute or two, possibly months. What were we talking about again?
Oh yeah! .... this sure is cool! Excellent collaboration by two of my favorite Macjamers!

Ed this just sounds great!Amazing that you have had only a few lessons. See I would have ruined this by trying to do something stupid like trying to figure out what key it's in.You just played what you felt and it sounds perfect to me.The background Macaudion has written is an incredible sound collage.I love the percussion. You guys need to do more together I really like this.
Macaudion
you made me bust a gut and then, a ran and told ed that you did so. thx, but encouraging ed and i to do more isn't letting u off the hook so quickly w/ me.
Ed Hannifin
...everything my teacher taught me... As you know, I continue to be trying and trying to ruin this by figuring out what key it's in, but so far I've failed...
In fact, he hinted subtly, I would LOVE it if ANYONE could give me a clue as to how to think of this in 'key' sort of terms...
Glad you enjoyed it, though...
Ed
Elevator_Funk

The added guitar is excellent, well played sir. Like where the tune is at present and the way it crosses bridges with all the mixed sounds. Quite a unique journey you have taken us on, perhaps you could become a combo. Sweet and chilled vibes.

OK, so now play it live - I dare ya!
Great to see you back with a track that actually stays around long enough to post a comment Macca. Lots of tasty percy thinks going on, and Ed has finally got a tune up - that covers '09 Ed!
I suspect you had way too much fun with this Dion.
Happy New Year to you both.

it's not like we can't do it, for a minute or so, ya know. though, it's not likely to happen, huh...

Well Macca, your private lessons with Joe Zawinul have paid off big time. You are now the officlal starmaker of MacJams.
Now tell us the truth. Did you sell Ed the 99.95 package deal or the 2000.00 full banana boat sundae treatment?
Everyone is gonna come beating down that door for the same deal now.
Well, can't say I don't blame them, you did a monster job and now we all have to pay homage to a new guitar god, ain't there enough already?
Macaudion
talk about a blast f t past... u just told me so'em bout u. my real goal was to get luis pinta to sit up in his grave...
u always make me smile outloud, d. thx. d

the atmosphere sure takes me back to a lot of the fushion bands back in the 70's. Excellent musicians back then.
this steps up and fits right among them...... I'm not saying that you are that old of course. =)
Macaudion
it's all coming together now, vic. and i don't mind being older; i'm taking every year that i can whack outta this show.... thx

...is a trip...
First of all, he ends up being like my guru. He challenges my assumptions. He takes what I think is rather like THIS and ends up framing it like THAT. Mostly he challenges my insecure and egotistical self.
I'd love to say a word about how we work, but I don't KNOW how we work. We've had so many irons in the fire, for so long, and Dion changes the names of works in progress so many times, that I lose track of which project is which. There are projects where I have actually played to the track, or to an early version of the track. I have also sent Dion files of guitar riffs and phrases and things, and I think there are also unused guitar tracks from one thing and another. What I may have played against one phrase may end up someplace else... I really don't know which thing is happening here...
Most of the process for me, then, ends up being in my head. And most of THAT ends up being just: let Dion loose. Stop worrying. Stop thinking your guitar tracks are YOUR guitar tracks. Stop thinking it all matters so much. See what can happen. See what can happen without YOU having to be the happen-er.
In the end, it all ends up being fine, and through it all Dion is patient, encouraging, reassuring and patient. And he razzes me.
Thanks, Dion... on to the next one!...
Ed

ed is in charge on the next one. i'll just be following instructions so,...
you know, i just love hanging out with you sir. i don't care how it happens...

The album art says it all, doesn't it?

I love this. Sounds amazing.

You guys keep it interesting all the way through. Really entertaining to hear... and Ed.. that guitar sounds incredible! the tele?
Ed Hannifin
I don't know for sure what guitar most of it is. I know it's not the Telecaster. It is most likely my lovely fluorescent Charvette, played through a POD 2.0. And the electric 12-string bits are the purple Danelectro mother-of-masonite guitar.
Thanks for the kind words, Adam...

You know, at times I wish I still had my Dano DC-3... very cool sounding guitar...

takes me back to Weather Report and Miles with McLaughlin - very cool jamming. Please do more. Excellent percussion and singing strat - also love the big pads.
Macaudion
Somebody wants us to do more together! hear that Ed?!
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, Bud. Most of both of us really needed that.
guitapick
...I've been waiting for some sounds by Ed and look where he turns up...with my good cyber buddy, macca...
Sweet stuff, guys...the guit's got guts and the synth chord changes with percussion add some very fine spots to hang one's hat upon and take off...
Cool...great collaboration, guys
Macaudion
...I like that. One of the finest of pleasures for me here is to be able to indulge your words of..., pretty much everything, thus far, Bob. And your art here lends truckloads of credence to your words. Thanks for pointing your ear towards all that was done here because although dreaming the big picture just kinda happened, crafting the details didn't come easy. We be thanking the lords of passion for a healthy handout on this one.
VicDiesel
Cool track. Now I suddenly feel the need to listen to my Kazumi Watanabe albums again.
Macaudion
another blast from the past.. And you know, Vic, it's been, maybe 15 years and you're the first person that i've known to mention his name. But this says nothing about what his level of obscurity is or isn't. Maybe you know...
Anyways, thanks the flash backwards and also, a huge thanks for the shout. Dion
Kicbal
It actually grows on me as the song progresses. The twangy synth chords behind the guitar is a very interesting sound that works well to create this sort of bizarre mood. Not too familiar with your music but the percussion work was awesome if that was you. Guitar tones are nice also. Thanks for the cool journey.
Boundless
Clearly a wonderful bed to improvise on
- I want to try it too ! Lol.
Thanks !
