Description:
First post of 2009 and my new year's resolution song. I need to try to say 'sorry' more this year...
The acoustic and verse vocals were originally supposed to be just a scratch track for demo purposes, and although imperfect there's an honesty I like about them so I left em in.
SORRY if this is too loud for some of you ;)

Lyrics:
I'm sorry I didn't say"I'm sorry" to you again
I'm sorry that I'm this way
I am sorry I'm a pain
Why are you running away?
Is it me you cannot face?
I can tell you're not okay
So I am sorry, I'll obey
You get off on making me submit
But I am the only one
That'll put up with all this
Look who's finally here again
I couldn't wait til you got in
I've got something to confess
I am sorry for this mess
You're not the only one
To dig into this hole
But you won't be the first
Ghost to haunt this empty soul
Sorry...

Vic Holman
let's add you to the ranks of Nirvana and The Pixies.
rsorensen
thanks vic. yeah the kurt influence is undeniable on this one, and if there's a Nirvana influence there's gonna be a Pixies influence hehe. Thanks for listening dude.
sheilad
I love it when it gets loud! Great first d/l for 2009! Thanks Ridd
rsorensen
thanks! your always fast to comment and I appreciate that. Glad you like it ")

that I can't write and record like Ridd. This track seems like it has less fuss than some of your '08 offerings. It's still a solid assault, but it's got a simplicity that works extremely well for this song. You're off on the right track!
rsorensen
oh shutup eric you write great songs.
It does have a little less fuss you're right - I hadn't noticed that. Sometimes I do get carried away with adding stuff though when I should pull back. thanks for listening glad u like it
blaky smith
Great sounds, very well done, no too loud for me but once again a beautiful sample of your talent...
Yes, this new year begins well. Happy New Year Ridd !
Marc
rsorensen
i wish the same for you
Feter

Killer change over. Nirvana for sure but a whole lot of you. Great stuff, and a great listen. Thanks
and be well, Russ
rsorensen
thanks russ. this one was a lot of fun, especially when I started screaming at the end. always good for a release.
LunaTrick
Very well done... love the build up especially!
rsorensen
thanks man. definitely trying to channel Kurt et al. I was going to do this as a second chance lost demo challenge a while back (which is why I initially try to sing like Kurt) but when I revisited it it became something else with the piano break and guitar solo at the end..
racerat
very raw. me-likey. good launch track for the real new millennium.

rsorensen
thanks for dropping by again man. always appreciate your comments

one of my favorite albums of all time, was nirvana nevermind. As soon as the voice hit ontop of those chords kurt cobain was the first thing that came to mind...very nirvana-esque... freakin cool track man..makes me want to record more alternative/rock style music...cool stuff
rsorensen
it was a great era for music! I appreciate the comment thank you
Shire Knights
I like the piano part. Makes me wonder if Nirvana and Pixies would have added some piano at times, how cool that would have been. Maybe I'm just ignorant but I don't remember either of those bands using piano (I know the Pixies much better than Nirvana's work...pbly the opposite of most). Realy well done overall.
rsorensen
I don't think Nirvana ever did but for some reason I'm hearing a Pixies song in my head with one, though I couldn't tell you which one. Great bands! thanks for listening
lavalamp
Glad this was my first of this year. Saw Holman's comments- agree.
You did such a great job with the vocal recording.
Love when it explodes. Maybe a touch too hot.
Great New Year.
Dave
rsorensen
thanks dave - i agree it's a touch too hot. it was a fine line while mixing but yeah i'll def have to tweak a little more. thanks for the feedback - really glad you like this
Mcboy
n singing......sorry i haven'y been listyening more to ur music...love the piano notes coming in to contrast against the acoustic......powerful rock song......very kool!
rsorensen

MarkHolbrook
I love the way this guitar and the vocals work! Excellent!
rsorensen
thanks mark!
bud
could you turn it up a little please - I can still hear myself think. What I'm thinking is that this is a pretty awesome tune that needs to be heard live - for the real sonic blast that moves the mosh pit back a few feet. Great start to the new year.
rsorensen
yah this would be so fun to play live! though it would be hard to get the quiter beginning across in a live setting if we wanted the dynamic shift to really work.. anyway thanks for checking it out kevin.
DeathArrow
this is a great song, songwriting, guitar, singing, production...but you should remove the flanger or chorus from the vocals this is not my style. i think your vocals would sound great too without it!!
cheers, luke
rsorensen
THanks luke. I debated taking it off and decided to leave it just to give the vocals a different kind of sound then I usually have. That said, I may revisit this at some point and try them again without. Thanks for the feedback.
lengold
song and production - as always.
Cheers
Len
rsorensen
Thanks Len I appreciate the listen and comment.

rsorensen

richardhowardjones
I like all the lyrics but the middle verse especially. It makes the rest of this piece clear. Zoom!
rsorensen
yeah that verse pretty much sums up the whole song. thanks for stopping by

i'm sorry i'm so late listening to this! 'specially like the NIN piano sound. radness. and nice distortion on the end vox! well done.
rsorensen
glad you like it. Looking forward to hearing your latest with vocals
NewInfection
you have such a washington vibe in your stuff! having lived in olympia for many years in the late 80's early 90's, i can really apreciate your tone and feel. great tune!
Allen
rsorensen
thanks man. yeah I listened to a ton of that stuff back in the day and the influence is definitely conscious in this case.
Nick_Flash
I love that ending. I'm a sucker for hard and loud stuff. Nice work as always.
rsorensen
I actually had you in mind when I recorded this one. Sounds like our collab 'Stay' a little. Good to see you man. Looking forward to your next one.
wonderful contrast between the acoustic and electrified parts. what audio interface do you use?
I Felt The same soul of PFloyd :) at the beginning
Nice Post
BUT when the electric goes on
u have here to lower it a lil and raise the drums sound
