Description:
Tomaso Albinoni born to Antonio Albinoni, a wealthy paper merchant in Venice, he studied violin and singing. Relatively little is known about his life, especially considering his contemporary stature as a composer, and the comparatively well-documented period in which he lived. In 1694 he dedicated his Opus 1 to the fellow-Venetian Pietro, Cardinal Ottoboni (grand-nephew of Pope Alexander VIII); Ottoboni was an important patron in Rome of other composers, such as Arcangelo Corelli. Albinoni was possibly employed in 1700 as a violinist to Charles IV, Duke of Mantua, to whom he dedicated his Opus 2 collection of instrumental pieces. In 1701 he wrote his hugely popular suites Opus 3, and
dedicated that collection to Cosimo III de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany.

Albinoni's a composer who should known for far more than his very moving Adagio (which I understand is based on only a fragment of his original composition).
I'd love to see your version of that one day.

You always make impressive MIDI versions of classics, but this might be the most impressive yet, in terms of the realism of instruments! Terrific job here.
You're right about not much being known about Albinoni's life. He lived at almost exactly the same time as Bach (Albinoni: 1671-1751; JSB: 1670-1750), and was apparently sufficiently well off not to need professional employment in music, or any other area.

One thing that may come as a shock to anyone who has heard of him is that his famous "Adagio" (which is on just about every "Greatest Hits of the Baroque" type CD you can find) was not actually composed by him. Wikipedia tells us:
"The Albinoni Adagio in G minor is a 1958 composition entirely composed by Remo Giazotto, which Giazotti claimed to have based on fragments from a slow movement of an Albinoni trio sonata he had been sent by the Dresden State Library."
Anyway, an interesting story, and a fantastic rendition music of his that I suspect most of us would never have heard had you not posted it here. Thanks very much!

Realized here with all of the self-confidence of the late Baroque. You do a superb job with the dynamics - Subtle, yet precise. As always, thanks for the history lesson! I really like the space you chose for this, too. It took me a long time to understand how programs like Space Designer work, but hearing this rendition makes it clear that it also can add a lot to a performance.

I don't know how you get these midi sounds to sound so good, they sound great. This reminds me of the music on Pirates! the computer game I played back in the day. Some day you should try doing some Water Music by Handel. That would be awesome.
