Description:
A song with hope...
Lyrics:
Happy New Year to youhappy new year to you
happy
this year we're going to march
in our own yard
not march into your home
not march without a soul
our feet are bare and cold
our minds can not be held
feel free to love each other
feel free to love
run
or stay?
run or
stay and play?
happy new year to you
happy
this year we're going to talk
and regret our past
not bear false witness
to our neighbor's
our hearts are warm and cold
our hearts are our souls
don't give it way!
run
or stay?
run or
stay and play?

you never cease to amaze me with what you bring to "the table" at MJ. Pairing very strong lyrics to equally as strong basslines and drums makes this a very very powerful piece.
Keep up the good work, Mikki

And thank you for taking the time to listen to my latest song. And thank you for the noble and encouraging comments in regards to my voice; that means a lot to me!

And as always - very different than the last one I listened to. You always find new ways to produce your music and explore your own particular universe. Always interesting - and always insightful. I really like the clear running mallet instrument against the distorted synth sound. Happy New Year!

Glad you liked! Happy New Years to you too!!!

Hove cool is this.. Right on Rock on... Love it TX.

Thanks for your warm words, I rock on!

Constantly enthralled with the breadth of your 'sound'. This one in particular has some real sonic gems in it. The walking bass synth, the vibes, the reverby-rubber-bandy guitar, the haunting operatic guy. Very cool Mikki. Also really dug reading about you in the MJ blog...
Happy New Year,
Philip

The bass synth came first with this song. Although it's simple, as soon as I heard it added my effects to it, the song where already born. It doesn't happen like that all the time, or very often, but when it does it pretty deliberating. Happy New Year!!!

good to see a new post from you Mikki.
You certainly have a style of your own - love your choices for accompanying instruments on this one.
Very cool!

This has such a cool mix of sounds. I love the opening riff. It sets up such a great groove for the tune. Each instrument has such a simple part, but they lock together to create such an intense and complex sound.
It's also interesting hearing this after reading Tobin's interview with you (which was excellent, btw.) The lyrics seem to fit in so well with your philosophy of the internal reveolution.
Such a great tune, especially to start out the new year with. I love it, my friend. I hope it's a harbinger of more greatness to come.

You nailed it, its all rather simple, but ties together to build a unique canvas. I am glad you have something to start your new years with, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Great mix reminds me if uk band inspiral carpets
Good work
mikkinylund
I am pleased with the mix as well. The british scene has always been a huge influence on me (not only in music), and even though I where not listening to Inspiral per say, I can see that, especially on the vocals.

very kool use of those loops...and the trans-dental vocals/lyrics r way kool!
mikkinylund
You think it's kool, awesome. Have never heard the expression "trans-dental vocals" before but that sound cool enough, i.e. something I can use when/if people ask me what I wound like: "Ah, um, well, kind of trans-dental I guess..." :) Anyway, thanks again for stopping by and giving my song a try...

Loved this one. Your use of instrumentation and driving rhythmic use of them, makes for a wonderful listen. That ostinato line with the vibes really hooked me in along with that echoey guitar bed, supportive synth work and droning vocal harmonies. What a great add with that ghostly operatic tenor in the background.
A luscious listen indeed.

I am not trying to appear deep, but this is who I am and I am glad you liked it!

I appreciate your comments a lot, we're obviously not in the same page musically, but that's the thrill of MacJam's; you hear thing never heard and then, all of a sudden, wow, what was that? Was that a...? Oh no. couldn't have been...? I love that. You can get the same thrill at "iTunes" but it will will cost you a lot more. Not saying "Ay" or "Nay" to one of them, but I love this place, not only for the obvious commercial reason (there are none)s. I can communicate with my listeners, as I can listen you mine....

I LOVE it!
Looking at your bio, I see we both went to school for writing. Music and writing for me is also synonymous with living.
