Lyrics:
Won’t You Tell MeSomething falling from the sky
I don’t know where, I wonder why
It’s been so long I felt this way
I won’t stay another day
Won’t you tell me
Won’t you let me know it’s true
Footsteps creeping down the hall
Faking feathers on the door
All the time the window’s sealed
Ceiling spins and disappears
Won’t you tell me
Won’t you let me know it’s true
Hiding secrets no one knows
Put my boots on, then I go
Frozen people, shattered dreams
Pawns and farmers, kings and queens
Won’t you tell me
Won’t you let me know it’s true
Language spoken seems unreal
For the robbers there to steal
Seen unknown and seen a spark
Seen the light on through the dark
Won’t you tell me
Won’t you let me know it’s true

I just love your sound and feel. nice pop tune. Id like to know what instruments you use on this fine tune!
lavalamp
Just used my Les Paul, a cheap bass (Johnson?), and a cheap Yamaha keyboard (cheap, but handy).
Thanks,
Dave
MarkHolbrook
The L+R vocals sound so cool... Kind of psych ya know! :-)

really liking this one Dave. What are you doing different these days? sounds more polished, but in a good way (not a cheesy Pussycat Dolls way). Awesome track, those drums sound great BTW.
lavalamp
Compression is the change. I've been spending a bit more time on the drum sound. Thanks for noticing. Hey, maybe I'm making progress.
Thanks again M2,
Dave
Happy New Year

gets my vote,(that's a good thing in my book) Great tune start to finish. The mix is outstanding. Fine job here, Thanks.
Be well, Russ
lavalamp
I never purposely attempt at Lennon or anyone else, it just comes out. But, I'm always glad when someone hears a touch of Lennon in my tunes. It makes my day.
Thanks,
Dave

around for while. It all sounds great to me. I was about to sing " all you need is love" before your chorus, it has similar overtones. Sweet, chilled piece well written and performed, cheers Dave.
lavalamp
I think it sounds more like "Blue Jay Way". I once knew a guy named Steve West.
I swear I wrote this in 5 minutes.
LL

Velvet Underground or something more modern or...
ok, something that doesn't need to be labeled.
Makes me feel wistful and clean
and the lyrics made me think
or want to smoke something
lavalamp
I thought someone would say VU before Lennon and Co.
Only where it's legal!

excellent song Dave.
what a cool way to start the year! very magical mystery tour era sound.(all you need is love) gotta love that.
very smooth and the mix is really great!
lavalamp
I mentioned "Blue Jay Way" in another comment.
I must make a little confession here..."Magical Mystery Tour" was my favorite album. I even have a great story about it. Please don't report me to the Beatle Police.
I even liked the film!?!
Dave
woofer3
Very Beatle like, great song - the Fabs would be proud of you I'm sure.
John.

Like to hear your voice a bit higher in the mix Dave... you sing really well!
lavalamp
Producing your own vox can be rough. Thanks for the compliment regarding the singing.

This is really cool stuff Dave. I guess a trip to the left coast was more than good for you. You have some really crazy lyrics going on here. Really interesting poetry, for sure. I am really enjoying the first song I've heard all year. Nice overall vibe with your vocal mix and that cymbal is really well used too.
Happy New Year Dave.
I look forward to 2009 and the music that will make it fantastic.
lavalamp
I knew someone would pick that line.
ALL these songs were written and recorded last year or before.
We'll see what I can come up with this year.
Thanks
Dave
lengold
song Dave and the production has a lovely laid back feel to it. Enjoyed.

A perfect piece of 3 minute pocket pop.
Just right!

I was thinking Beatles ala Magical Mystery Tour timeframe, myself...but regardless, it's both fun AND catchy. I dig it!!
lavalamp
Thanks for stopping by. I guess it is quite Beatlesque.
Dave
Kicbal
As other people have commented, this has a sweet Beatles infuence, but I'm also hearing that late 90's Manchester England, House Rock style, (Oasis) who were also influenced by the fab four. Cool effects on the vocals and the overall production is great. Very catchy melody and groove. I do wonder if it might be cool to use a single vocal track for parts, maybe for the 2nd part of the verse or on a bridge or somewhere like that. May give the listener a little more vocal variations to tune into. Just a thought. Nice stuff.
lavalamp
I agree. It could use a little more. Thanks for the listen and the comments.

Only thing missing are the flutes or harmonium or some such thing - but with the way you've put this together I really don't miss a thing. Excellent writing and production - lyrics and vox. Very cool track. Way to start the new year.
lavalamp
Glad you liked this track. Stay tuned for more.
Dave

Happy new year man. Starting 2009 with a more pop direction, i like it! Lots of cool subtle stuff here - the chorus is great - love the guitar. And the 4/4 keys throughout. And the distortion in the bridge. I imagined an army of whistlers at the end.
lavalamp
Let's make it a good year for music.
Happy New Year.

first of all... Magical Mystery Tour is not a film to be embarassed by. It's so strange and wonderful. "All this mud, IN 45 MINUTES!?" God I love that movie.
Oh yeah, you posted a great song, too. I'm really impressed with how this one moves. It's very clean sounding and those strings really stand out.
lavalamp
I'm not so embarrassed. You gotta' dig that film. Weird in all the best ways.
Happy you like this,
Dave

David, your songs always bring me to the sixties. I don't know if you are old enough to remember them (they say if you remember them you weren't there; not always true, you had to come down sometime). Anyway you really always capture that feeling and it is a real treat for me to listen to your music. Very well done.
Stephen
lavalamp
Thanks Stephan,
I just try to make enjoyable tunes. Glad you liked it.
Wasn't born then. But now.

Very interesting lyrics... in particular I liked:
"Footsteps creeping down the hall
Faking feathers on the door
All the time the window’s sealed
Ceiling spins and disappears"
Also like how you doubled the vocal... creates a really cool vibe and natural effect. Very nice, Dave!
lavalamp
Thanks for taking the time to check this out. Glad you liked the lyrics.
Dave

The backing sounds so much like a Beatles track (or a Vic Holman track for that matter), as does the melody.
Dave you look like having a very good year methinks.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil
lavalamp
Glad you're nice and warm down in Oz.
Just the first of the year. Hope you'll be around for more.

love the way this one just starts. i hear the beatles in this too and i like it. almost like floyd covering them or something. really like this one dave. the music has a kind of positivity about it and as always those lyrics are very very thoughtful. cool guitar solo too. great post man.
lavalamp
I have this really rare demo of Lennon and Barret doing a song. It's so weird. I wish I could post it somewhere. I guess it's a "Bootleg".
Anyway, thanks. Glad you liked the tune.
Dave
J-Roe
I really like the lyrics!

Albert Hoffmann a debt I can never repay. This a fitting tribute, a lovely song honestly and earnestly (in the best possible meaning of that word) performed. A gem.
lavalamp
I don't know if I owe him anything. Thanks for calling this a gem.
