Description
A dusty drive song for a top down scene, or a loping horse ride.
I'm relatively new to GarageBand, so I'm just beginning to compose without loops.
On this, I started with a GB beat (RnB 06) and stripped off everything except the back beat. Then I started modifying its pattern and listening to different effects-- Reverb, Amp Sim and Automatic Filter.
I'm reading about music theory, so I found some sites with piano triad layouts and chord progressions. The first one I found was Am, Dm, G, Am so I built the rhythm verse with that. I'm not sure how chorus' climbing progression (C, Dm, F, Dm, Am) came about.
Starting with verse's chord progression, I paired out harmonies and started patterning rhythms. Listening in a loop and adjusting patterns and velocities, an outlaw-like melody started to come about. It seemed to complement the almost Middle Eastern sound of the distortion and chorus effects on the verse's progression.
I'd like to find a haunting female chorus to ride over the top of the verses toward the end. I'd also like to stretch it out with a bridge or break. That would be the right place to introduce the vocals.

Lyrics
her tools,
those gifts
wrapped inside our rifts
would push me, taunt me
to behave beside myself
our rows,
then the makeups
after those nasty breakups
were lacking, soul attacking
leaving me in search of help
those gifts
wrapped inside our rifts
would push me, taunt me
to behave beside myself
our rows,
then the makeups
after those nasty breakups
were lacking, soul attacking
leaving me in search of help

i enjoy ambient/experimental type music so i was diggin this. very original which is one aspect I respect, i try to be as original as possible. I couldnt read the description though, is this all original or are their loops? did you sequence this or play it live? hard to give constructive comments without knowing what you put into it.
so from a basic standpoint, cool track and I liked the vibe of it. I would have liked to see more ambience dug into the backing though. but all in all nice track.
