Description

Appledore is a beautiful and probably ancient village in Kent, England, with associations with rebels such as Wat Tyler and Jack Cade. This track is an anthropological recording of The Appledore Processional, an imagined turn of year processional dance from pre-christian times living on under the guise of the village's Christian festivities.

the feel of the medievel folk essence and beats .I woudl rather go and do

	You're right Fiddle and percussion aren't quite in sync - I had thought about sorting that out when I was recording but I was pushed for time at that point. Lovely post Martyn
When we lived on the edge of the Peak District National Park in '86 I was surprised at how many of the old tunes and traditions had found their way into the annual program of the local church. As our daughter was in a school attached to the parish church we had a real taste of it all (although we had to go 20 miles to catch some serious Morris dancing (is that an oxymoron?). "Well Dressing" was the local speciality.

I get hairs on the back of my neck rising hearing this - top stuff!

	Dressing well... I spent a lot of holidays in the Peak District as a teenager and saw a few Well Dressings myself - at Eyam I think. Lots of villages which have nothing to do with the Peaks have taken it up now - great example of how quickly traditions get entrenched. Thanks for listening!
