Description

Just a quick one I through together. I discovered noise gates and compression plug-ins. I found a good artical in a trade mag about both. Well I just had to try it! So I used gates on the electric guitars and compression on bass. Just a bit on each.
Just thought it an interesting plug-in. Ill be using more gates..I really like the way it cleans up the noise without any loss to the audio file. I love it.

Cleaned up nicely ..

.. overall top notch Watson.. best mix I've heard you do of you own vocals to date ..
love the guitar in the L in particular .. and the zong of the cymbal at 01:22 ..
only nit was at 02:12 .. the edit/join/paste .. is a bit too obvious .. can hear it.. might be easy to fix, might not.

Fine sentiments in the lyrics too .. music from the heart is always best.

You'll have to educate me on the gates. How do you use em? Can you hear the difference?

Everytime I hear someone's guitar work I want to run out and buy an electric again. I haven't owned one since I traded a Trini Lopez model Gibson for a bicycle in the mid 70's. Just love the guitar sounds on this track.

noise gates
What I did was type in "How does a noise gate work"in a search engine. I read oh about 20 mins. Then I just solo the track I wanted to work on and played around with it. It really helped with fret noise and buzzing from the pickups. And on vocals it gets rid of breathing and room noise.. But remember if it isnt a good sound going in. All the gates and compressors in the world wont help. I now wonder how I mixed without them. Thanks for the listen and comment!!
