Description
This is track 7 from our latest CD, Broken. Kind of an old-school story song. Jay uses some cool harmonics in this one. Feel free to download. Thanks for listening!

Lyrics
I saw an old man praising God
In the back row of my church
They say at one time he had it all
Before his life took a turn for the worse
His house sold, his savings spent
To help his precious wife of forty years
And yet her battle with cancer was lost
I asked him why his faith remained and he said,
The Lord gives and He takes away
Who can know the meaning of it all
I lost the things I held so tight
Even though I don't understand,
Through the grief and pain I rejoice
For God is by my side
And I know He will carry me
I saw a young woman cry out to God
Praying in the front row of my church
A first-time mother six months ago
Before her life took a turn for the worse
An rare disease took her baby boy
And left her broken at the foot of the cross
And through the tears in her eyes she saw hope
I asked her why her faith remained and she said,
The Lord gives and He takes away
Who can know the meaning of it all
I lost a gift I held so tight
Even though I don't understand,
Through the grief and pain I rejoice
For God is by my side
And I know He will carry me
Oooh, carry me
The Lord gives and He takes away
Who can know the meaning of it all
I lost the things that I held so tight
Even though I don't understand,
Through the grief and pain I rejoice
For my God is by my side
And I know He will carry me
In the back row of my church
They say at one time he had it all
Before his life took a turn for the worse
His house sold, his savings spent
To help his precious wife of forty years
And yet her battle with cancer was lost

Even though I don't understand,
Through the grief and pain I rejoice

I really like this sort of songwriting... The lyrics and vocals are my kettle of fish. The guitar solo however isn't. Great production though...
