Million Miles

Description
This is my latest song that was recorded live at Eddie's Attic last night. I cheated and added background vocals to it today in my studio, but the piano and 'center' vocals are from the open mic. You should check out Eddie's Attic website if you get a chance at www.eddiesattic.com. It's a beautiful place for songwriters like me.

It is run by Eddie Owen (you hear him at the end of the recording) who is there every monday and has been for many years. He has seen artists such as John Mayer and Jennifer Nettles play there regularly before they were who they are now. I live 3 miles from there as of December 2008 and I will be taking full advantage of it...every Monday. ;)

Many more live recordings to come. Enjoy.

Lyrics
A million miles..
a million miles away it feels you are.

A million smiles..
a million smiles I've felt its been so far.

You feel that angst and wonder
I know that feelin cause' I'm right under
the same fabrics of life
the same fabrics of life

~Turn~
But you know that day will come and the world will call
something inside me ignites and I must burst from these walls
you know I want to stay but in the end

~Chorus~
I'll be on my way

~Me improvising a conversation... with myself~

I promise I'll be back soon
just like a starlit sky can't be without its moon
well I can't be without you

Turn
Chorus

Don't you know Ill go where the wind blows

Chorus out

Thanks a ton!
I'm still experimenting with the backing vocals for when I record this song with my full band. So it's kind of like trying on a new pair of shoes... kinda.

I appreciate the comment...
I have to admit that I didn't like the piano at the Attic when I first played on it because it is old and out of tune, but after listening to the live recordings it has grown on me. Now I love it because of it's 'unique' sound.

Live
I enjoyed the improvisational sense of this, as if you are growing the song as your confidence grows in its groove and message. I liked very much the vocal layering. Many of the timing spaces between chord changes in the slower opening and ending sounded like hitches as you were searching for fingerings as opposed to emotional ritenuto, in my ears. But I love the feeling, and especially the live sense of the recording. Thanks for sharing this.
