Slalom #4 (The Friends Helped Mix)

Description
Here's my final Slalom mix, containing great suggestions from those who listened to the other, earlier mixes.

Each mix had something extra or different to the earlier mixes and this mix has percussion/drums. Not all the way through, but just to add to what is already there, and a white-noise swish, to emphasize the idea of skiing.

Here's also where I coin a new term 'Scaper', for someone who creates soundscapes, as this can cover and background music in any genre. Ambienteer was too narrow a description.

As always, please let me know your thoughts on this mix, good or otherwise.

Hi......
I'm always happy when someone hears in the mix what I intended. It makes it worthwhile spending the time putting things together.

This is a mix that reflects a departure from straight Ambient and there will be other departures as the year passes. I have many ideas and will try and get them down in some recorded form or another.

Take care.

Yep
i am liking this vibe, this type of sound takes me back to the early 90's and Glastonbury Festival. Love that trance loop you got going there. This has shades of Last train to Lahsa. Nice long track.

Hi Tokai.......
Glad that you liked this track. Yest it was that bit longer than ususal, but when they give you a maximum of 20 Mb, what's a Soaper like me gonna do??

I'll check out the Last Train to Lhasa track, and have a listen.

I never did Glastonbury, except from a spiritual point of view and in the 90's I was in Yemen, working in the mountains.

Take care.

Paul

Hi Daniel......
I think that the feedback I received on the previous two versions made a lot of difference, when applied to this mix, and I am so grateful for caring people such as yourself, who use their time to try and help someone else make a track a better listening experience.

Thanks for listening Daniel.

Take care.

scaper
good word. perfect term for you. didn't get around to leaving a comment on the other mix you posted (sorry) but the drums really add a lot to this I think. love the swishes and popcorn pops. lots going on in this one, many many layers. this is going to take many listens to let it all wash through.

Hi Shay......
It's good that you stop by for this mix......The other was a few layers short of a good mix. Some of my friends on here and another place helped with brilliant suggestions and this, I think, is a better mix for their input.

I'm not sure where to go from here except into another tributary of Ambient, so stay tuned.

Take care.

This one...
...jacks up the tempo from many other things you've done, Paul, and I like it for the newness of the sound/style...Should there be video projects in your future, you'll need that variety...As always, your intelligent use of instrumentation is what gives your compositions their unique quality.
Peace.
Paul
(Sorry I am so late getting to this. I am catching up on several weeks worth of posts... My studio has been "down" for some upgrading and repairs.)

Hi Paul....
This 'Scape was a journey of this imagination, made more fruitful through listeners (of earler versions) offering suggestions and of my trying to impliment them in this mix. All in all I'm happy that I made the mix, as it more or less was a group collaboration that made the original mix into something a lot more effective.

I was also trying something different with soft synths.

Take care.

I enjoy creating music using computers and 'synthesized' as opposed to 'real' instruments. I have no problem using samples/loops in my music. Everyone does this every time they work with a track. I don't fit in any box and thoroughly enjoy working ou... [see more]
