Description

This is another track where i tried to concentrate on the rhythm and not a lead. There are a lot of guitars on this, but i am hearing a muddy mix, i have tried to separate out via panning and EQ the various parts but still does not sound right to me. This has quite a simple structure and was written with vocals in mind. The very kind and talented Ramona helped me out once again with her powerful voice, however we lost a few parts on the way? As usual i have lost the ability to think of anything else to do to this track to make it sound a bit better, so if you can help out by offering any help i would be most grateful. The only loops were the drums. Thanks.

No worries
Very cool work. I like the lead guitar melodies and they way they work with the backing tracks. The soft touch on the vocals is a cool way to front the otherwise intense stuff. It actually makes it more viable... I mean in the way that too much intensity can sometimes just hit the senses these days and shut down the inputs. The more careful vibe on this actually GETS attention! Funny how that works. I am not sure what you could "do" to make this better. I'd really have to put a lot of thought into that, and whatever I came up with would probably be forced and useless anyway. I didn't hear a "muddy" mix on my first listen. Rather what I would call an "ambient" mix -- which is actually good for this arrangement IMO.

The shamen style ...
or maybe the tokai/Ramona style. As chronologic says, her vocals add balance to the heaviness of the music. 'Hooks' might be the wrong word to use for a heavy tune like this, but it's full of guitar riffish hooks, as I've come to expect for a tokai tune. Lots of nice touches here, like the openness around 1:45, the successive layering of the guitar in various places, to build the intensity, the funky dance red herring beginning, the crying synths in the distance. Ramona knocks me out, as always. What a perfect pairing. I hope that particular well is deep. One last comment: I listened to this four times so far, and it sounded better each time. For me, that's always a sign of success. More please.

	Curve is back! Do you guys know Curve? An english due active during the 90´s which mixed electronics with heavy guitars? They were one of my favorite bands back in the day. It's a tight groove with tasty guitars saturating the wall of sound. I like the sassy vox from ramona — fits the mood of the song very well.

If you'd like an idea to add a contrast or something to brake open the wall... Maybe have a bridge with a very direct and clear acoustic solo... supported by a grand piano or such, leaving the drums out for a while... and then switching back in again.

	Great Drama When she sings "don't you know why" the song lifts off this is the heart and hook of the song, nothing like being asked a question menacingly by a beautiful woman, I think you should work more on this aspect of the song. 	Great development really grows as it goes. Fine mix to these ears - but then I don't know what's missing I just dig what I'm hearing. what you mean is the guitars and the changes along with the bass should hold more weight but it is very slight. Did you try to master mix the EQ sometimes that helps, also less compression is better. Im sure there are some on this site that can help you more than me. I really enjoyed this mixture you have between the guitar the drums and also Ramona's singng it sounds alot like the band Garbage. Very cool!

i dig the wall
really big massive sound. a nice variety of guitars. i also dig the electronic beat used instead of traditional big drums normally heard in heavy metal. Ramona's vocals give a cool contrast.

i don't know if this will help much. but normally i will put a high pass filter on the guitars and set the frequency around 270. that cuts out some lower end and defines the guitar sound with more attack. bass wise i add a low cut filter set to cut off at 76. that's kind of the short end of it for starters

Your at it Again
Jane's Addiction comes to mind here. Steve I have always admired your work and have been a big fan. Love the techno feel but you didn't over do it. The mix is a little muddy but I think it adds texture and mood to the song. The worst thing you can do is get to over critical of your music. Ramona sounds great as always. Great job! Needs REAL drums! (You know I had to throw that one in!) LOL. Take care. J

Thank you so much everyone for taking a listen and commenting, sorry this time i won't get back to all of you, you know how it is? I have made another mix and ironed out so of the high end and it all sits a bit better. As always this is up for anyone that want to jam on something or even try a remix. KTB is having i go.
