Lyrics
There was a time when I was cold.
I didn’t know you then. I didn’t know.
I’d never heard you say my name.
I didn’t know what love was for.
I didn’t know a thing before
You reached out your hand and…

Drew me close beside you as we walked.
In the moment, somehow my life just changed.
Suddenly I knew the truth:
Without a word you spoke to me
And promised that you’d give to me
All the love that I’d longed for.

Oh, can’t you see my heart—
That it’s come apart
And I’ve given half to you?
Everything’s all right
When you’re in my sight.
Just don’t ever go away.

No more looking back to days gone by.
No more wondering “if” or “when” or “why.”
You just stood there looking up at me,
So certain that y ou had found your love;
So sure and yetso tender, love,
Helping me to see how…

Much our time together meant to you.
How unafraid to wait for me—you told me then.
Weren’t you surprised when I looked back at you
And told you with my eyes, love,
That I knew I had found my love
Standing there beside me.

Oh, can’t you see my heart—
That it’s come apart
And I’ve given half to you?
Everything’s all right
When you’re in my sight.
Just don’t ever go away.

Remake?
Paul: Wonderful showtune vibe. You and Tobin ought to get together. This is the kind of stuff I'd like to do. Inspirational love song. Is this a remake of what you posted a few months ago?

Not a..
...remake. I am into a series of these songs, looking for different ways to tell a story. Of course, that's the nature of love songs: you never get to the actual end of them. Glad you enjoy this.

The never ending love song...
isn't that the way it's supposed to be? When we're lucky that's what it is - and you seem too have been "lucky in love" as they say. Beautiful composition and performance Paul.

Ah,
when love is right it is a story with chapters that build one upon another as long as love endures. You make me cry with these. Thanks.

Blessed
As Richard says, seems like it would fit nicely into a Broadway hit show... Which begs the question, why not write a musical theatre piece? You know you could do it, and it would be very, very good. Your skils and knowledge of musical craft are truly spectacular. I just hope you continue to be inspired to compose lots and lots more wonderful music. You are blessed.

so ..yeah..
same question Ross had ... why don't you tackle a full blown musical ? I KNOW you could as well. Paul this has such universal appeal ... my friend ... Hats Off once again ... excellent work and your voice is still just wonderful.

The voting seems to be in...
...and the consensus is that Paul Page needs to score a musical....This is another one where I hear Anthony Newley in the phrasing/delivery...

I agree
A whole musical is waiting-I'll be looking for your name on Broadway next year, Paul. ;-) The world needs more love songs, and yours are wonderful. The mental image of a young couple walking, holding hands is in itself love, but you expand it with questions to include the delicate balance of the relationship. I'm glad you've had an enduring love. :-)

In this broken world
You always bring beautifully scored music for love of life. Such a healer you are. This really does have all the hallmarks of a hit musical number... great lyrics, awesome music-writing, and richly and emotionally delivered singing. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, Paul.

Wonderful
hmmm, Evidently you can see my heart Paul, because you consistently touch it with your music. More people need to be like you and your wife, and love really would last forever. This is very pretty Paul. Thank you.

I know
I always say that your ballads sound like Broadway musical songs.... but it's true..... and others seem to think so too. This is just such another that would fit perfectly in that scenario. A lovely song and beautifully sung, regards M

Love shared
What authentic and touching lyrics Paul. Normally I am blown away by your melodic and orchestral work (and I am here too) but to hear how tender you are and know the joy you share is a rare treat. I can sense the powerful feelings you have that surely help produce such gracious music. Bravissimo!!

Best always,
Doug

What a lovely opening with the piano and bells. Very sweet and tender. Another beautiful, moving love song. This is a great series you are doing. The flute line in this is wonderful and a very beautiful sound. Lovely, Paul. Thank you for sharing these with us.

Beautiful
I think I haven't been to your page in a while, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but this is great. You have a very sonorous voice, and this simple arrangement serves the song well.
