Description
My guitar group's looking at Country & Western just now and this song makes a good start for the fingerpicking we're working on; but the real reason it's here on MacJams is to say thank you to Roxylee, Feter, Relic67,Lengold, Davisamerica, Movis, SJB, Mvh9591, Saymme, Kristyjo, TobinMueller, Damien, Johnwhitehead, and Alan, who like counter melodies. I greatly appreciate your recent kind and thoughtful comments.

Glad you care
Glad that you really care, because you gave us a great little number.

There are a few fiddle players on this site, that would probably love to collab with you on something like this, and I would look forward to hear.

You carry the folk tradition on nicely.

Thank you Karen! How do I go about collaborating? I've wondered since I first happened on this web site! I'm away cycling for a few days but I look forward to something happening when I get back!

Elaboration on collaboration
You collaborate by sending a track or two to another person as an MP3 or AIF file, with lyrics or chord map, if you have 'em. Give them a BPM or indicate if it is not played to a metronome.

I asked you about Sibelius 4 because I assume you created the song in a sequencing program like GarageBand or Logic rather than in Sibelius. Some collaborators actually send entire GB or Logic projects via FTP or other big file transfer services (Box.net, Pando, iChat, etc.).

Keep asking questions. We are here to tap and be tapped.

Sibelius 4
Fingerpickin' good! Friendly, easy-going song, despite the love lost. More Bluegrass than C/W. You have a fine voice. I'd like to hear a stronger bass line and crisper fingerpickin' guitar. The fiddle and your voice are nice and bright. Unmuddy the rest. How about a little harmonica, tambourine or wooden spoons?

So, tell us how Sibelius 4 was utilized in this production. For the fiddle/violin? What other software did you use? Is the song fully notated in Sibelius, i.e., have you created sheet music for the song? If so, I'd love to see your SIB file ... or at least a PDF. I have Sibelius 4 and 5, as well as Finale 2009. Oh my, they just released Sibelius 6 with Magnetic Layout for duffers like me.

Still Care
I wrote the music in Sibelius for two fiddles, recorded each playback separately using WireTap (because Sibelius kept stuttering) and put both tracks into GarageBand then added my voice and guitar on separate tracks and sent it to iTunes.
After that I worried about my performance, the arrangement, the mix and a whole lot of other things (I'm like that!) until some comments came in.

My guitar students will have a recording with just my guitar and voice, for clarity.

Yes I'd be happy to send you and anyone else my arrangement of the song.

Thanks for you comments,

Ken
