Lyrics
Gentle scent of a rose
That dripping in a shell
The world will call it a twin
If I cry to the moon
She will be the bell
And the world will call it a twin

Open your hands and it
will be filled with care
Share the words and
it will be all grace
Open your eyes and see love, love, love

Autumn can never be cold
That given for that smile
The world will call it a twin
Tears never meant to
Hold the name of that spell.
The world will call it a twin.

Open your hands and it
will be filled with care
Share the words and
it will be all grace
Open your eyes and see love, love, love

Hold this song
That will be given well
The world will call it a twin.

Thanks
That means a lot Feter. I'm of the opinion that you can't get a good cover song from a song that isn't already good. Your original is a great song. Emotional, poetic, beautiful and heartbreaking. It means a lot to me that you let me warble my own version. You rock, brother.

Great cover!
You gave this song more energy with this treatment. I love what you did with this Feter tune. :-)

Thanks, Roxy
Feter's original was so accutely emotional that I couldn't try to do it straight. Plus I like hiding behind loud guitars and robot noises :). Thanks for checking it out.

No small "Fete"
The production here is reminiscent (to me) of Elvis Costello's "King of America" album. Overall it's a pro mix to my ears, and that's no small "Fete." Feter's got some great stuff and you showcase it so well here.

Elvis Costello
I tend to get a good amount of Elvis Costello references when I post songs here. He's pretty much a god to me so I'm quite flattered at the comparison. Thanks, Bob!

Elvis Costello indeed. Love your delivery on this cover. I will have to go back and check out Feter's version later. Great job Eric. And thanks a lot for the shout out the other day. We need more songs by you. Get it going brother, you are really good.

Feter's version is a treat. A beautiful melody for sure.

Your shout out was deserved. Feeling Kinda Dizzy is a top track, for sure.

I'll be completely done with school in a few months and will be able to get posting more regularly. Thanks for caring, though!

Awesome
I always enjoy Feter's lyrics... really poetic word choices...
and you perform it really well. I really like the refrain.
The ending few instrumental bars are absolutely fantastic!! My god you could have gone on for a couple more minutes with that guitar part.
Gotta check out the original...

Thanks
Feter's lyrics are always nice and expressive. You can take them several different ways, which is always good. Thanks for the props on my guitar work. I'm a one-note-wonder, but at least I'll never be accused of over-doing it :).

Yes, man, this is a really nice choice for you. Already a fine song, steeped in your style. Nicely done!
Lennon714 said 139 days ago (June 21st, 2009)
Thanks!
When the cover challenge was announced, I knew exactly which tune I was going to do. It just took me forever to get around to doing it :). Thanks for putting this together. I'm so glad to be part of a community that respects its own. I hope Feter enjoyed all of the submissions as much as I enjoyed doing this/listening to others.

Late?
It was me that was late. You're off the hook... this time :). Plus, you didn't actually think you could beat Feter on posting first, did you?

I had a blast working on this tune. I'm glad you liked it?

Covers are harder when you know the original artist is going to hear it. I enjoyed making it, but you sweat it out until the original artist hears it. Thanks for listening!

I had an idea of where I wanted to go with it once the challenge was set, but I'm glad it works well with the original still. It's such a sweet melody, how could you not want to sing it?

It's essentially one take on the vocals, but I should have spent more time on them. I just was already too late to be too nit-picky. There are some sour ones lurking, but you're going to get that with me regardless. I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you want, I'll give you guitar lessons. I'll teach you everything I know in 2 minutes :).
