Deck The Halls (Guitar Solo)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
Here is something I put together for the Christmas spirit. I play acoustic guitar on this one with a little slide utilizing the holiday tune "Deck The Halls".
I just recorded it a few minuets ago in GarageBand using my Takamine acoustic guitar. Dec 26th, 2004.

I tuned the guitar to an Open C tuning:"CGCGCE"

That's the spirit
Most excellent guitar playing. I'll have to try that open C
tuning. Sounds like Leo Kottke.

Thanks Richard! I've got to listen more to Leo to compare.

nice rendition
I like the way you expand this well-known Christmas
classic into something uniquely yours.

Very fine guitar playing as usual. The recording on this is
very live and warm-sounding. Really excellent.

I particularly like the way you displace the rhythm on the
melody. Your variations on the tune are also inventive.
The open tuning gives it a folk/country flavor.

The percussive slides towards the end are indeed
reminiscent of Leo Kottke's playing.

Just when I had had enough Christmas music-listening
this season, you offer a refreshing version which could be
enjoyed year-round. Thanks!

Absolutely wonderful
Kind of Greg Lake meets Ry Cooder (don't know enough
Leo Kottke...). Spent many nights at college trying to play
steel strung like this. Full of drive and excitment. This is
what fingerpicking should sound like. Cameron's
comments are right on the money too.

A Gem.

p.s. ever heard of a guy called Preston Reed? Saw him last
year, can't decide if he's good or just a one trick pony,
albeit a very difficult one...Prefer your stuff I must say...

I was just listening to Leo at Itunes. He is sure a good open tunings guy.

Preston Reed, I'll have to keep an ear out for him. Have not heard of him.

Thanks

in a song that's been played millons of times. Lots of fun things happening with your rendition. Excellent, as always, tiler. Oh, and thanks for the tuning secret!

Open tuning to me are a lot of fun. You probably know a bunch but I left
what strings are tuned to in hopes somebody might find enjoyment out of
this open tuning.

Thanks
