Drawbacks of synthetic instruments are apparent in this lively piece. The dynamics, very well produced, still sound automated. The cymbal crashes never vary. The snare drum is robotically perfect. None of this is your fault. I guess it's a problem I have listening to a synthetic orchestra. However, this recording does give you an excellent idea of what your piece could be, if only you had a real live orchestra and a baton. Do you score your music? Amazing What I like most about your work is that it is always different. None of your songs sound alike which to me says that you have many styles of composing. I agree with Mungo that this peice isn't exactly crying out with stunning melody. However, with that being said I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that that wasn't what you were trying to achieve here with this peice. To me this is one of those kind of songs for effect rather than melodic principle. So as far as the effectiveness of the piece I think it is brilliant. The middle of the song was especially wonderful. Like most classical music it is always best heard live and or with real instruments. All your music is wonderful and Garageband can only hint at your ideas, so I would be really interesting in your works with a live orchestra. Check out my latest song called Something Beautiful

Jam Pack 4 Are these loops you're using or instruments in the pack? I'd be very curious to know the breakdown. Although, I agree with atwood1956, this one seems to sound a bit more synthetic than "Deverso Overture". Although, I enjoy this one, too. Almost like Ragtime meets Russia, giving it quite an original sound! Check out my latest song called With You

Thank you for your comments First off, let me thank everyone for listening. The funny thing about Jam Pack 4 is that sometimes you get the authentic sound we've been craving and other times we get the synthetic that is so-so. I think it depends on the load of instruments, it seems like the more fuller sound I try to go for the more synthetic it becomes, which is a bummer. When I finished the song I also realized there was a whole other section for this peice that I completely forgot to compose, oops, I think I was just tired from going at this all night. I do not use loops in ANY of my music, everything is 100% me. All instruments i've been using have been from the Jam Pack. Loops are a hassle. I do not write out my music either, this may sound dumb but I don't know how! I do not even really understand music theory nor know anything. I just humm something and try to match it on my keyboard. Thank you for your comments This is fairly astonishing to me. You're winging this stuff? Amazing. You might want to seriously consider formal music education. Or at least some good software that can notate what you conjure up, so that one day, real live musicians can read it and put life into what is now some lovely, inventive, synthetic music. If only I were still directing... I would seriously demand you score this and let me use it in Spring competition. Of course, then, I'd have to find decent 3d clarinets. *evil grin* The bridge section, with the asymmetric rhythms unaccompanied by percussion, is a bit rougher around the edges than the rest, but frankly, the staggered attacks are what reminded me of a real ensemble. I hear the hard work that went into it. I wasn't too thrilled
with the melodies, After hearing your previous work, I was
hoping for something extra, melodically.
The section where the horns carry the tune without the
percussion (about 2/5 of the way through) was
interesting.
